Thank you for all the comments! This video was intended to be just a look "behind the scenes" of what I do. Not an actual in depth tutorial. So I won't be answering all the "how it's done" type questions for this one. But please feel free to check out my other videos on my "Wood/MDF sign tutorials" playlist that currently has 4 tutorials! And more to come! :) Thanks everyone!

Love the video! The application tape you used looked like high tack if you changed that to medium tack it would lesson some of the release issue from your paint mask. I use the medium myself for almost everything never use the high tack as it sticks to hard to the substrate and the mask.

I know all to well about handmade things and people not appreciating your work! I’m a quilter and it literally take anywhere from 3 months to over a year to complete a quilt. When people look at them some just thinks it a blanket not a piece art!!! They talk about the price, but not understanding what goes behind them. A good quilt can run anywhere from 200.00$ up to 1500.00$. They don’t consider the cost of materials like fabric, batting, and the backing, binding, not to mention the thread!!! But most of all the time I spend piecing them. I have one quilt that’s a king size and I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years!!! So I really appreciate a handmade item and am so welling to pay extra for it!!! My husband is getting me a Cricut Maker for Christmas and I’m hoping that I can get into the sign making business too!!! Can you please tell me what kind of wood did you use?? It’s a beautiful sign and keep up the good work and many blessings to you and your family!!

Thank you for posting this. My wife and I are in the business of making rustic signs but we do the letters the old fashioned way (tracing and hand painting). We are in the market for a vinyl cutter to do exactly this! What do you recommend for a vinyl cutter? Also, is there a particular vinyl you use so the glue doesnt stay on the wood?
@EtchedwithVinyl8 жыл бұрын
+Nicholas Hilton No problem! I use a Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutter and LOVE it! And Oracal brand vinyl is the best!
@YorkEngine48 жыл бұрын
I'm going to give the Oracal vinyl a shot. We bought a Cricut and are very happy with it. The biggest challenge is the vinyl isnt sticking to the wood well enough, and the transfer paper is too sticky. We switched to contact paper, which is a little less sticky than the Cricut transfer tape, but we are still having issues when removing the contact paper. The vinyl just doesnt want to stick. I read that some people use Polycrylic before laying the vinyl down.

great video!! I love all of your videos! quick question? what is in the pink jar that you used before paint. tia
@charley4088 жыл бұрын
it does look like mod podge, and I'm guessing she used it to insure the paint wouldn't bleed, and or so the paint would not peel or make it set better. other then that you can skip that step just becareful because wood is grained and the paint can bleed under the stencil.

Just stumbled across this video whilst searching for "etched". Interesting enough in it's way, but it's a really bad idea to use a hammer on a table that has a laptop and other electronic equipment on it - if nothing else is available use the floor!
