Behind the Scenes/World Equestrian Center

I had such an amazing time visiting the world equestrian center briefly one night last week that I went back! I was shocked and got emotional over how absolutely beautiful it is. I can honestly say I know now how people in Orlando were feeling when some crazy guy named Walt Disney had a vision for changing a bunch of swampland into a major theme park with countless hotels etc. He had the mentality of 'if you build it, they will come.' That is exactly what the WEC feels like. It is so massive and so beautiful and so luxurious I just can't believe it's a part of our small community!
They have built it...so now who will come?

This was fun! I am happy to see a memorial statue to Sgt Reckless. That little horse did beyond amazing things in the war. Did you read her story plaque?

Where is the WEC located in the Ocala area? Sad to see that the skies were overcast; just as in Central Ohio, but it was probably a bit warmer than here. Thanks for sharing.

It was beautiful weather, I don’t mind it being cool and overcast. It was pleasant in short sleeves and sandals.

Oh! And the WEC is in the NW quadrant of Marion county. It is kind of on the corner of Hwy 40 & 80th St. If you see “Golden Ocala” on the map, it’s just South of that.

@@helenabrus191 the humidity isn’t high in the winter. It was a beautiful day out and I never used the a/c today, not at home or in my car. This is my first winter here and the way I would describe November to right now is one long, long late September into October in northern illinois where I used to live. The humidity drops noticeably and it gets cool to cold at night but daytimes are normally 60s and low 70s. July - September is a whole another story but for me that is my “winter” when I’m indoors more but without the ice and snow! Plus early mornings and evenings are good times to be outdoors.
