Whatever Bethany’s motivation is…it’s time for a reckoning for tv stars, reality personalities, crew, support staff to have basic Human Resources guidelines established.

Bethenny’s reasoning is irrelevant. Regulations for reality tv needs to happen period. She also doesn’t really need a bunch of other reality stars to make this happen. This has become bigger than just B it’s taken on a life of its own with high profile lawyers and SAG.

I think any working individual should have full acess to healthcare. Their likeness is sold forever and someone continues to earn money off that likeness. They deserve more! They are still captavating an audience which is worth alot.

are you joking? it is definitely a skill and if it weren't then all of the people who auditioned for reality shows or got fired from them would be working on tv. Being watchable is a talent. Do you know how many boring people this world has that aren't watchable at all? there's a lot of em lol

I think she has a young daughter and has realized how toxic and abusive reality TV is and regrets being a part of it…so perhaps this is her way to make up for that and show her Dghtr that she stood up for people etc.

Great discussion on this topic. B's not about the money, but she likes to champion a cause with a megaphone. There's something about lumping in reality stars with trained talent that doesn't sit well. The focus now should be on the WGA members. I love Bethenny on the CNBC business show. I like her moxie and business acumen -- but this time, it's in a grey area. As the Magic Eight Ball says, "Reply hazy, try again." Time will tell.

I think that part of B’s new reality reckoning shtick makes sense… there should be some regulations, recurring stars of these shows should get healthcare (I guess). However I think shows that reality tv is not what it is supposed to be. To me, the initial idea of reality shows like the kardashians, or the housewives, were supposed to be more like a “documentary” look at peoples REAL lives. Documentary subjects aren’t covered by SAG, & I’m (pretty) sure that documentary subjects don’t get health insurance from whatever production companies that produce them. If you take the housewives for example, many of them have (or at least claim to have) careers outside of the show, or they’re “housewives” with husbands. Shouldn’t they have health insurance through whatever careers they have or from their husbands jobs? Top model contestants or big brother cast members only appear on those shows for a season. Shouldn’t they have something else going for themselves besides their one tv moment? A major part of Bethannys brand is being “real,” but I think that her whole reality reckoning thing shows that it’s all a lie. Was she being real or was she coerced by producers (I don’t think she was ever real to begin with) ? I think there might be something to the claim that cast members on some of these shows were coerced or goaded by producers to create such crazy, dramatic, & unflattering moments, but after almost two decades of reality tv, I don’t think it’s fair for grown adults to make this claim. They’ve seen the shit show that reality tv can be, and they make the choice to do it for themselves. If some housewife (for example) was so uncomfortable with how they were portrayed on one season, they can simply chose to not renew their contract. Ultimately, I think that Bethanny is just jumping on another bandwagon. There’s nothing real about her. Make millions off of a brand like skinny girl doesn’t come without a bunch of employees, which makes me wonder what the benefits were like for all the workers who manufactured the skinny girl products… Something tells me that the average worker working in some skinny girl factory would rather rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars to be on a show where you just drink and go to dinner, rather than working for relatively no money in some factory with shoddy benefits. Bethanny is just as much of a “capitalist” as the producers at ABC & Bravo.
@whatsthedeal2932 Жыл бұрын
And the comments are so funny to me. All of the people commenting that they’re team Bethanny are probably still watching whatever their favorite bravo shows every week. It just shows that nobody is real at all. If everyone is so bothered by how these reality tv stars are treated, why do they keep watching?

Well, I believe that all people should be treated with respect and decency but reality "stars" are not actors. Reality tv gives ordinary people a public platform, which often leads to other opportunities. I am not sure if this is Bethenny trying to be a martyr or she's looking for publicity. 🤔
