Serious question, cause im new. A skilled bass player as yourself, do you, read music, read tabs, or a combination of both to learn a song. Also, do you do your own bass work, adjustment and such. My neck is bowed in on my bass, its a fender pj, im thinking of doing set up myself. Or should i take it somewhere since i believe it was never set up.

I'd recommend finding a good tech and having them fix it, and possibly give you pointers. That should give you a good baseline as to where your bass can be, and if you want to start working on your own gear, which I recommend learning to do, it's good to have an idea of what you're aiming for. You can adjust the setup to suit your preferences and playing style from there. Also, if there are some real issues with the bass, a factory-authorized tech can typically evaluate the instrument and possibly perform any kind of warranty service that may be needed!
