Excellent , Thanks for a great set of videos on system 100 and 2500 modules. I am currently building my set up,and these videos are really useful. At 5.17 All pass filter, I just got triggered ,COFFEE!! essential part of modular .

Wonderful! Thank you for this excellent explanation and demo. I had a 100m system back in the day and was running 6 modules from a 5-module rack. I would have loved this but couldn't quite fit it in. I have fought shy of recreating the system with the Behringer units but I love watching videos about it 😁

I have a 172 on order but was thinking I'd just store it away. I greatly underestimated it based on what you are doing here. It will find a place in my rack. Thanks for a very detailed and informative video. I will use and external delay / reverb pedal to get those longer delay times and be happy that I have a capable flanger, phaser and extra LFO on board my System 100 rig.
@synthesizer832 жыл бұрын
The 172 adds that little extra to the sound. I often find myself in an awful sounding patch, but the 172 then saves me and renders it quite acceptable. The overdrive in the phase shifter with full resonance is just awesome.

For such a low price there really isn’t many complaints. The only two i have are the kind of useless built-in lfo and the how the resonance does nothing unless it’s cranked.. you covered all this though. Haha. Rad vid!!

Beim System 100 kann man die input audio mixer sehr leicht übersteuern, das führt dann zu einem schönen "saturated" sound.

Super informative! Have you tried feedback routing with the 172? It struck me that as such a short delay, with some feedback and filtering, it might be possible to do karplus strong with it.
@synthesizer833 жыл бұрын
Yep, this works. Output into a VCA, back to the input, leads to string like results. Bit hard to tune and I haven't tried anything musical with it (in terms of tracking 1V/oct), but it works.

Is there a second synth on 10:45 ? What is the Keystep triggering? Is it 2 oscillators? It sounds very nice!
@synthesizer832 жыл бұрын
The keystep controls the synthvoice module (the 110), and the envelope. So yes, basically it is a second synth, but also in the System 100.

I love the Behringer, and am considering building my own system with their modules. I was curious and looked up the prices for all the modules you have here, and it seems like your whole setup costs only around 1000€, which is an amazing price for a modular system :D

Yep, that's it. Still a whole lot of money, but compared to other systems, basically a no brainer!

Look at the 110. VCO, VCF, & VCA all-in-one, - pretty much a synth voice by itself,.. and only 100 currency units.

Arturia Keystep, the old one, not the pro. The pro is on my wishlist, because it has 4 cv outputs, the simple one has only single cv, gate, and mod cv outputs (and midi of course).

How are you recording the stereo output? I have a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 audio interface, but both outputs are combined. I'm new to this so plz bear that in mind. What would I need? would a stereo mixer? any models I could try? I would like the speakers to output stereo too.
@synthesizer832 жыл бұрын
I have the Behringer UMC404, this can go stereo. Sometimes I use a simple mixer (Alesis Multimix) and feed the stereo out into my PC's line in.

@ericMT Жыл бұрын
You can do it. Just look at how he patches everything and try to replicate the knob and slider positions. Sometimes even a small change can really affect the sound so keep working at it, and you can get any sound from this video, assuming you have the same modules.

Day 1, right out of the box I'm getting the same impression from mine. I'll give it another shot before returning it. There's a massive difference and I've been patching and manipulating it for a couple of hours very methodically and slowly, listening intently for anything good. Nothing yet.

What does Audio Delay Resonance do?
@synthesizer835 ай бұрын
It feeds back a portion of the signal to the input, making resonance longer and more intense. When you max it out, it starts to resonate by its own sometimes.

Firstly, I wanted to thoroughly thank you for this series of excellent videos. I have picked up and have enjoyed all the 100 modules because of your individual breakdowns. But, I fear this is the first one I'll be seeking to return. I feel that compared to the other modules (even the sample and hold that I use a lot for random-ish voltage and noise source) this just isn't $80 of effects value. I know i'm spoiled by modern budget effects like the NTS1 which punches way above its weight. But I'm just not getting anything good with the 172 right out of the box, like I did with the other 100 modules. Mine may be defective or I may be misusing it, but it just seems like a lame filter effect that I can replicate with an LFO sweeping a VCF. I've tried slowly adjusting all the knobs in every way while listening for changes and modulated the CV inputs to middling success. I think I allowed your reverb to overestimate what I was buying into with this one. The gate delay seems like the most useful thing to me, but it's way too much HP for that one thing in my rack. I think I may be better served by the TipTop Z5000 or even the pretty weak Behringer Space Effects that just came out. Edit: I have rewatched this video yet again and I will be going over my module one more time, just to make sure, but after watching your delay demo, I'm wondering if my unit really is defective? I get absolutely zero delay effect from mine like you're getting out of yours. That definitely isn't a reverb pedal unless you're using something else during that part.
@synthesizer83 Жыл бұрын
The delay is really in the audio range, so very, very short. Not to be compared with a "classic" tape delay or similar.
@VinceFinemMusic Жыл бұрын
@@synthesizer83 Thanks, yeah. I tried working it into a karplus strong patch with the other 100 modules and couldn't get it to work. I then used my Distingmk4 as a delay and it worked no problem. I suppose the 172 just isn't to my taste. It just doesn't do enough for me to justify the price or the HP.
@warp26003 жыл бұрын
The Delay is a flanger? I may be doing something wrong but in my system it sounds more like a chorus effect.
@synthesizer833 жыл бұрын
When I got this right the difference between flanger and chorus is just in the delay time, so I guess you could call this flanger OR chorus, depending on the delay time setting...
@cnfuzz2 жыл бұрын
Chorus and flanger are time effects so they are always delays , if you modulate a delay at very narrow setting you get flangeing
@edjwise3 жыл бұрын
Will the gate delay accept an audio input?
@synthesizer833 жыл бұрын
It does respond to audio inputs, but the result is no really usable I guess. Even a minor delay setting leads to a sub-audio output in form of quite chaotic pulses.

What is apparent of these modules is as soon as the sound is driven a bit much it quickly becomes unpleasant unlike vintage designs, seems like all smd analog designs have that character
