Hi mate 👋 I love the work you do on the 2500 modules 👌 I’m approaching the point now where I have enough stand-alone / semi modular synths and it’s time to start planning a modular setup that I can slowly build up over the rest of my time here… starting with Behringer 2500 modules I think

The drawback of the 2500 modules is that they do only basic functions (so it is more like a starting-point system, which aim to be expanded, rather that an expansion of a stand-alone setup - but this is just my point of view). Amongst the series, there are the 1027 sequencer, that can produce voltages and trigger signals, and which is very well thought, and the 1047 « filter / resonator » module, which, for an analog module, produces interesting wooden or metallic percussion sounds. The other modules do things that pretty much every semi-modular synth can do (especially the 2600, i've seen you have one). Depending on what you want to do, you may consider modules that do completely different functions : for instance, effect modules with voltage controlled parameters, digital oscillators, random generators (the 1036 is quite limited...), etc..

Hi mate, right ok thank you very much for your detailed perspective and feedback on the 2500 modules… yeah it’s definitely now food for thought as it makes sense to build a system that can do more than my 2600, which like you say sounds like it can do most or a lot of what the 2500 can… I do love the bare tones of the 1004 oscillators. They sound very crisp… and almost hifi if that makes sense… Perhaps I could aim to get 2 or 3 of those and then expand with other modules to take the setup to places I currently can’t reach. Granular comes to mind, a very long LFO time etc… and unlike the sound of random generators. Thanks again mate 🙏🏻👍
