For the record: I like some of Behringer's products and I feel it was totally unnecessary for them to make a copy of the Keystep, which costs almost the same and hasn't improved on the original in any way. What do you guys think?
@shroomydaze4 жыл бұрын
hmm. My opinion on Behringer has changed over the years. Before I thought they were just a offering their own low quality products. Now I know them for their quite accurately represented copis of old analog synths. I mean being Behringer now means you make a copy of somethingf that is expensive , and offer the same product a lower vaue.

When guitar cloning started in Japan in the 70’s by companies like Takamine it was considered wrong and there were lawsuits. It only became normal after many companies gave up to fight what they did not have patents for

I don't really have any problem with this but if they would have made with an actual mod/pitch wheel instead of the touch strips, or USB C, or if it actually feels better to play, I would be completely on board with it. There's nothing wrong with taking a pre-existing design and improving it. I already own a Keystep though.

Behringer I guess is just reminding people who they were/are. They were cool for cloning amazing analog synths that people have dreamed about owning but never could, but they were never cool like that previously... true colors :’f

I own a Keystep Pro. There's so much functionality in the Arturia product, and they put so much into the software and updates that Behringer could never compete with that product (the Pro version). Plus Arturia tech support is top notch too. I'd go with Arturia any day . . . As far as the Keystep goes, at this point compared to the Keystep Pro, the Keystep is ALMOST nothing too special in the sense that small midi controllers are a dime a dozen though . . . Anything besides the Arturia product is an imitation that will likely be lacking in either hardware, software, customer support, or a combination thereof. I might consider a Behringer Moog clone which is a fraction of the price and maybe adds some functionality but sacrifices in other areas. I just don't see why they did this, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It’s really a shame, there is so much room for innovation in portable midi controller market, Behringer has so much money and instead of innovation they are cloning this? Shame... this is a cheap shot by behringer, they are becoming the Walmart of musics industry.

Arturia put themselves when they claimed analog modelled software sounds exactly like the original ,and suddenly they made analog hardware , at least they could have admitted their software was just mockup and that it never was able to succesfully recreate an analog signal , its a bit jekyl and hyde that story
@LowHeatBeats3 жыл бұрын
Not really cause their analog hardware isn’t an emulation (I don’t like their analog synths actually). And a software emulation of a h/w synth is a different thing altogether.

Hey wolgang palm created the dco and wavetable in the 70s , how many japanese and american companys copied those in the 80s? He invented it , arturia doesnt invent they just cobble existing tech from others together , so there is no difference between behringer and arturia in that respect

You may have a point, but it’s not like they cloned the PPG synth
@sotired99704 жыл бұрын
At first hand, this seemed "OK" but after watching all the video, this is literally just a flat-out copy of Arturia's product. I feel like the CEO of Behringer got sidelined a bit by his engineers, and maybe wasn't aware of the Arturia product? If they retracted the product, they open themselves up to litigation, because then it's insinuated that they did indeed "copy" the product, and then tried to hide it.. Unfortunately for Arturia, the don't have any legal standing to fight it, unless they have some patents for the product....real immoral of Behringer. This even seems to be their game at this point. Find products that they can clone without getting sued, and extract more profit from other people's products by mass production.
