It’s come to the point where people who have paid $3000 for whatever synth are trying to convince themselves that their boutique synth sounds better than what Behringer is doing. The reality is that they are putting out some monstrous analog synthesizers for ridiculous prices. One can argue semantics about their manufacturing practices or quality control. But at the end of the day, their machines are sounding just as good as any Dave Smith/Moog product for 1/2 the the price. I believe that’s indisputable at this point.
@Mike-nb8ot2 жыл бұрын
My $3000 boutique synths sound better. And it didn’t require any convincing. Perhaps the people you speak of just don’t have the experience to notice the difference. With that said, I still think the Pro-800 is sounding decent. Kudos to Behringer for the work they’ve done so far!

You can say Behringer synths sound great as well, which they do, regardless of the build quality of some models, or whatever problems you might have with the brand, but to say they sound better or just as good as an OB-6, Prophet-10, OB-X8, is a bit of a stretch, that’s when you would have to actually fool yourself into believing something (It would be great if we could have a synth that is 100% of what a Prophet-10 is for a 1/10 of it’s price. Soundwise, Behringer can get 80 to 90% close to what they are trying to emulate, which is very impressive, but for some people those 10% can make a huge difference in not so obvious ways, like in how it inspires you. We need to understand the times we live in: Today plugins can become virtually indistinguishable from what they emulate, so sound is not an issue, the only reason people still buy hardware synths, is because they need that tactile feeling, which will mainly translate into decisions and inspiration, and make them do things they wouldn’t with a mouse or a touch screen… It’s not only about sound, it goes much deeper than that.
