Like they said!... Hand are a story you can read, I'm 63, and love this sensitivity and expression in the gesture. One music instrument depends to hands who manipulates it, not only the theme or presets. That's where you can listen the real life of the instrument, far more than a technical machine. It's the third time I listen to this video and not the last. That's why I will have it over me Juno 6, with a CME UF 70, or my studiologic 88 midi, I feel the soul of this instrument, particularly with those called 'Presets', really the voice of the prophets, some so well known, others i discover here wich are hand to hand to my music. Love 🙏🧡💚👍👍👍

Bought the patches and it took only a few minutes to install the sysex librarian that is recommended and the patches. Works all flawlessly. I run the 1.4.4 firmware and used the 1.3.7 version patches, no problem there. Thanks Stefano for your great work and for answering my emails. These patches are a BIG step up from the factory sounds, best $19 ever spent!

NOTE: Due some changes done in the several PRO-800 firmware versions which reflect in the way it plays, the library comes with 3 versions: one to use if the PRO-800 runs a firmware version before 1.2.7, one to use if the PRO-800 runs the firmware version 1.2.7, one to use if the PRO-800 runs the firmware version 1.3.7 or newer.

Your playing is beautiful. These are great, highly playable, highly usable patches. I'm hoping Behringer improves the Synthtribe application to allow for things like named presets (like the factory presets in bank A) and tweaking of features without menu diving. It's a great synth for the money and already two firmware updates since I've had it, so room to grow.

I've owned both an original Prophet 5 (Rev 3.2) and a Prophet 600 (and upgraded it to Gli Gli). THIS has managed to capture tones from both, and does it extremely well. Nice demo!
@stefanodaino Жыл бұрын
I also owed an original Prophet 5, a Prophet 600 and then, for more than 20 years, a Prophet T8. The Behringer PRO800 is quite close. Something different in the Poly-mod section, and surely on the output audio stage. BTW, an excellent synth, also considering the price...

@DankePlace Жыл бұрын
@@stefanodaino both of you have been pretty honest about your appraisals. I have been explaining to certain poster that the P600 is indeed based on the P5, but they're adamant it isn't. Page 4 of the P5 manual states otherwise, that Sequential wanted to provide a more affordable synth based on the P5. The fact you can get something close sounding for very little money is brilliant imo.
@marklawrence909 Жыл бұрын
@@DankePlace You are correct about this, both the P5 and 600 are VERY close at times, and with Gli Gli upgrades mine sounded identical for many sounds on the P5 Rev 3.2. This Pro 800 is a real bargain and the synth snobs can cry all they like, but in my studio this will sit close to the main controller, it's that nice.

@ that’s cool to hear thanks for the info man! I love the prophet sound and thinkin if i could catch two things at the same time with a budget; the synth and some analog drums, especially a kick. Have the poly d but the envelope is pretty sloppy for drums on that one. Thinking of selling it to buy pro800. Don’t really want to since it sounds great and has some cool stuff going on too, love the analog distortion and chorus in it and u can put stuff through it, but the pro800 would add more of the flavor i’m lookin for and is so versatile….

Nothing beats a Prophet when it comes to mellow warm brass or string sounds. Sounds where the filter isn't opened up fully. I think it beats most Oberheims for these types of sounds (but the inverse for the more open sounds)! Same with the Roland Jupiter 8 which kind of also does more "open filter" sounds better.

The design of the Prophet 5 (and by extension Prophet 600 and now Pro 800) being so versatile despite the relative simplicity is on fine display here. Only a couple of missing niceties and the Zilog limitations are long gone. (Hopefully they will add an exponential option to filter envelope amount and kick up the voltage at both ends of the range) All else being equal a P10rev4 is definitely still the king of old school polysynths, but this is 1/11 the price...
@stefanodaino Жыл бұрын
The last firmware for the PRO800 allows very good and fast ENV curves. The PRO-800 has an excellent Features/Price ratio, but there are several minor and major things here and there that limit the PRO800 compared to the original Prophets. The most evident is that the POLY-MOD section is ok but not as you would expect. Accepting the velocity and aftertouch, it could be even considered a Prophet T-8 alternative, but unfortunately the Velocity to Filter ENV does not cover the full range, with the result that the PRO-800 always sounds more closed than expected. I hope that will improve this and other things on next releases of the firmware.
@klstay Жыл бұрын
@@stefanodaino I am still waiting for mine so it is great to get feedback like that from an owner. Hopefully it is physically possible to increase the peak sustain voltage level coming out of the filter envelope.
