In this video, we explore Behringer's new RD-8 Rhythm Designer and MS-1 monosynth: two modern instruments inspired by one of the most classic pairings in electronic dance music history.
The Behringer RD-8 provides the sound and workflow of one of the most iconic drum machines of all time-with additional features and a pricetag that makes it perfect for modern workflows. It updates this classic machine with an analog filter, wave designer, and advanced sequencer with performable beat repeat functions and more. In this video we also experiment processing the RD-8's kick drum direct output through the Boss Waza Craft Metal Zone MT-2W, adding a bit of edge and forcefulness to its already thunderous low end.
The MS-1 is a modern interpretation of yet another classic analog instrument: a monophonic synthesizer with integrated sequencer and a huge, rubbery sound. Here, we process the MS-1 through a Boss DM-2W Waza Craft Delay pedal for some extra space.

Right on. If this very video doesn't push one over the edge to buy the RD-8, nothing will. Whoever programmed the drum machine has some mad skills! The first track reminds me of classic Detroit Techno; the 2nd one some old-school gangsta rap. 👍👍

I bought one a few weeks ago and love it. Keep a distortion pedal close by though (as PC has done here) for lots more fun. The little LP/HP filter is pretty basic but instant fun. The sequencer is quite nice. This one is staying up front for a long time. USB sync and MIDI are both nice and simple to set up as well.

People may throw shade on Behringer but the fact that they recreate these classics that are no longer in production and do it for the modern world is AMAZING. What I don't like is when they copy a current piece of gear. I would be ok if they tried to come out with an improved version because competition is good for the industry!
