Well I absolutely love the Wasp, in fact I have 2 Wasps. I use them on demand, backing a Pro-1 it provides depth & complexity. Backing a Model D with just the Wasp Osc2 can produce a Solina like quality, & the kick in/out hold switch is very useful too. As you say, such a unique filter suite.

ha, almost a swarm! I'm certainly glad I did this experiment, I'll be using this little beast again!

I've always thought if the sound of the wasp as "springy". I bought one 2nd hand in around 1981. Still got most of it 😁. Got a Behringer one about a year ago and am very impressed. They did a good job of capturing it's spirit.

I really enjoyed using its filter, and jamming it a few weeks later...

@@abominablemusic how do you mean, jamming it as in breaking it, or jamming it as in "Sheeoww man, get DOWN with this funky jam! Yeah."? I really hope it's the latter, bro.

Technically, the K2 also has these complete filter modes since it has a high pass going into a low pass. Great video showing off label uses of this great gear.
@abominablemusic7 ай бұрын
That makes sense, since the K2 is a model of the ms20 (I think), which could always process external audio. I never got a k2, I think I'd rather save for ms20!

That WASP filler is one of the sweetest ones I've ever heard. It can roar.

yea, glad I have this for when I need it!
@Chevroletcelebrity Жыл бұрын
what about the k2?
@JD-1991 Жыл бұрын
@@Chevroletcelebrity got both here. K2 has more tonal sculpting potential with 2x filters and 2x "filter types" , whereas the WASP has those 3x filter "modes. Wasp LP is absolutely fat and the harmonic resonance + fun anomalies/movement i can create with little effort/tweaking is some of my favorite synth dive / jam / explore ive had to date. i find it hard to compare them directly due to the differences in functionality (though i havent used either solely for external processing ) you can definitely get more "roar" from the k2 alone, when you get into using the esp to patch the signal back into itself. wasp is incredibly nice sounding filter imo regardless, with some extra distortion and reverb etc chained behind it ,there is alot of design potential . rant
@JD-1991 Жыл бұрын
Apologies , I don't so much mean 2x filters on K2 as, seperate control for HP + LP simultaneously ** !

I would suggest implementing the wasp as an fade. Sounds to me with the wasp the sound is being put in the background, walking away/fading, mudded. Your original sounds more ethereal & wispy... Look forward to hearing more. Cheers
@abominablemusic Жыл бұрын
yea, good idea. I little bit of automation in Reaper and I can mix in (and mix out) the Wasp mix stems as they 'make sense' for the track. Many thanks for the suggestion!

How do you link the filter through midi ? (Think you mentioned it at the start)
@abominablemusic Жыл бұрын
ah yes, the joys of using a synth as an effect. Basically, you have to trigger the envelope, so I'll just hook up the wasp via my USB-MIDI interface and create a simple midi track, from memory, a single held note will do the trick. The Behringer Wasp has USB, so you could also use the USB connection directly rather than midi.

Is it possible to do that with the kobol Expander?
@abominablemusic10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, the Kobol is hard to get hold of in the UK, most retailers are estimating March 2024 for stock. Once it's available here, I want to test this synth...
@JonadanandtheFreaks10 ай бұрын
@@abominablemusic wow. In France and Germany, I know it was available in the beginning of December. I had mine the 9th Anyway, I asked on a forum. And yes, we can do that. There's a "VCF audio in". We can manipulate the sound with the VCF filters. But you have to plug an empty jack cable in "Gate in", and put all the VCOs at zero
