As a big Depeche fan, instant buy for me. Depeche Mode used a Wave 2 mainly in the studio for the second album (‘A Broken Frame’, 1982) and onwards for a couple of years. Its unique and distinctive sounds are unmistakable on that record. The single ‘See You’ features the very recognisable choir sound, plus the bell riff and other parts, while that release’s B-side ‘Now This Is Fun’ also has Wave’s hallmark stamped all over it.

By "the work" you mean jacking the R&D of their competitors?
@SantiagoGT153 күн бұрын
@ nah, the other work, you know, making musical instruments affordable so more people can have the chance at creating music without having to overpay for 80’s tech
@GeorgeLocke3 күн бұрын
@SantiagoGT15 Walmart isn't a noble institution because they are able to sell their products for less. Remaking existing products reduces labor costs by relying on other companies to do their R&D, and rebuilding existing products means you have a much better idea of the demand, which reduces the risk of investing in a "new" product. All of this is sound business strategy, and while we consumers are not hurt by lower prices per se, companies relying on economies of scale like Walmart or Amazon have well known externalities, ie costs paid not by the company or its owners but by its workforce and the public at large. An example of this kind of externality would be the quality of life among poorly treated workers. All of this is, again, business as usual. Behringer isn't worse than inMusic because they reduce the price point of their products, but neither does selling a cheaper product make them a boon to society. It's just business doing normal business stuff: making as much money as possible for the investor class.
@leftmono10162 күн бұрын
@@GeorgeLocke- their competition can’t be arsed to revisit their old designs in a lot of cases. Behringer give people what they want at prices that could easily be 20 or even 50% higher and still sell a lot of units. TD3-MO is £125 ffs, that’s stunning value for money. So any naively moral issue is neutralised.

I still own a Kawai K4-r, which has sorta kinda similar architecture, and was the only affordable PPG-ish synth in the early 90s. It’s capable of some quite unique and extraordinary sounds, and also some awful artifacts and quirks, but I love it. I thought I should stop acquiring synths, but … you know. Wave. Ooeee !
