That´s the problem. Now it´s too late for a simple Drumbox without any option to edit the dated sounds in it.
@TheDavidPoole5 күн бұрын
@@mondamnil I understand what you are saying, but for me, the draw for this machine are those particular sounds. I grew up listening to and wanting this, the CR 2000, TR 808 etc. I had a TR606, TR626, MC202 etc in the 80s. Those were the sounds, along with the Korg KPR77 (I think - the one that DM used), Linn Drum, Alesis etc, that were increasingly tweakable, but still pretty much down to using EQ and FX to sculpt the sound. I want those particular sounds to sculpt. Sparingly, unless I'm trying to make a soundscape. Sometimes it's better to have something where I know that I don't have to do too much work or waste much time to get what I want. We all have sample libraries with thousands of drum samples. I'm dome with spending hours trawling through samples and have whittled down to 20 or so "kits" that I mix and match between, but now find that I'm more likely to go back to using the hardware. It's all subjective - to me it's like going back in a time machine to my teens onward. I feel more of a connection with the hardware. Sounds stupid, but it's the thought of the electricity crackling through the circuitry. And the feel of it too if the earth is dodgy 😀 Cheers 🤘

@lordspam2721 one of mine too. It's all over one of my favourite albums of all time, "Metamatic" by John Foxx. Coincidentally, I acquired a Yamaha drum machine previously owned by him from the brother of Ultravox! guitarist Robin Simon. Can't remember the exact model number as I'm not that familiar with Yamaha drum machines but it's something like an RX 9 or similar. I got it years ago but haven't really used it as i need to service it. But it's more of a collection piece for me so I'm not fussed about using it. It's where it came from that's important to me. Cheers 🤘

The sound of a CR78 always reminds me of Gary Numan 'Bombers (live)'
@TheDavidPoole5 күн бұрын
@chriszanf yes. Nothing like the original - pure punk rock. I like them both in their own way. The raw energy and naiveté of the original against the laid back, darker path that the live version follows. The CR78 plays a big role in that version. He used it quite a bit on the album "Dance" too along with live drummers, as usual.
@TheDavidPoole5 күн бұрын
@@johnk6312 it was also used by Ultravox! when he was singer\songwriter. One of my favourites is "Hiroshima Mon Amour". I think the live version (Marquee, London?) is my favourite. I'm sure the studio version is on the album "Ha! Ha! Ha!" but I could well be mistaken 😁 Either way, it's a very good use of the CR78. Cheers 🤘🏼
