So sorry this happened to you. This was why I made my applications to urzad 3months after I got here. We all know the process for getting the karta takes a lot of time. But thankfully that red stamp sits graciously in my passport. Thanks for sharing and all the best with your studies ❤️

I feel you girl, I mistakenly miscounted my stays days on my visit visa and was notified at the border control in Poland that I had overstayed, I could hear phone calls, I was asking what was wrong, what I had done, I was so confused, I cried ….signed so many papers just like you, and I got a 6 months ban….but before the ban they literally wanted to put me into detention😥😥😥 I cried…no sympathy whatsoever laws are laws here…I called a polish friend to beg them literally on my behalf to allow me not miss my flight. Well they let me go on my flight, almost missed it, then luckily my polish friend’s dad was a lawyer and he helped me with the court proceedings as my power of attorney here in Poland. I was to appeal after serving half of my “sentence” 3 months later , the ban was lifted, and I could apply for visa again…. I was suprised I got a visa again ”God is mighty once again” and now I learned my lesson. It’s also important to note that the longer your overstay/illegal stay , the longer your ban. 6 months is the least punishment ban from 1 upto 3 days of overstay Please don’t wait last minute to apply for renewal n stuff, check validity of dates more than once just to be sure you are not mistakenly forgetting anything important, coz Poland will deport you.

Also I know that ignorance of law is no defense, you make mistakes sometimes, there will be consequences….moving forward it’s important to read about these laws, ask questions and doing you paper work early enough, so Incase of any mistakes , you can resolve them early enough too without having broken the law.

Girl, I'm Polish, listen, do everything on time, and if you have such problems again, arrange a transfer to Prague, to the Czech Republic, or another country where Slavs live (somewhat similar languages) And if you arrange an emergency exit - call a journalist , get paid for your ad! Unfortunately, maybe the officials are jealous that you study medicine, it is a very elite field in Poland! Only for the rich or the genius ... seriously many young people in Poland are crying and will not get approval from the university ..... But you study - you are lucky! In the office, we love how you speak, at least good morning in Polish (English is still stress for a bureaucrat because we don't use it every day). And hold on, you are better than 90% of others!

Omg Rebeca. As Pole, I feel sorry for you because of that situation. At first glance at the title of this video, I thought there is a prank behind the title which in the video turned out the horrible truth. Polish bureaucrats really can be heartless prats but you've proven that you brave and tough and ultimately defeated their bureaucratic mess coming back here which makes me glad.

Sorry you had to go through this. It is pretty much how you say at the beginning of this video - bureaucracy in Poland is strict, merciless and downright terrible, in any situation. Not to mention that in many cases people cannot even count on any help from the officials, receptionists, people working in the places. We've all had to run around because of a missing "stamp", we didn't even know is needed.

But how would she have known to ask for the stamp in her passport? shouldn't it have been the immigration officer's responsibility to do his/her job efficiently and stamp her passport when the renewal application was made? There is no bureaucracy in Poland, but there is order. The lack of a stamp seems trivial, but this is the reason for deportation, because the document is invalid. I understand that in Nigeria there may be different rules, but here is Europe, and as you can see from the development of individual countries, such rules of law are good and appropriate. Poland is located in Central Europe, possibly in Central and Eastern Europe, not in Eastern. I wish you good luck anyway and that everything goes back to normal.
@drautabecca
@drautabecca 4 жыл бұрын
what I mean by bureaucracy here is excessive administrative procedures, for example getting a student residence card is quite complicated, yeah I wasn't sure if it was east. thank you and things are back to normal
@piotrb4240
@piotrb4240 4 жыл бұрын
I also don't experience excessive or inefficient bureaucracy in Poland, but it does exist --> in offices that we don't have to visit. From what I hear the immigration offices are by far the worst organized public offices in the country, and this is because nothing has changed since they were dealing with a few thousand people a year 10 years ago. Same procedures and same number of employees, although they should probably hire 10x more people. Foreigners who abide by the rules have to wait about a year (sometimes more!) for their temporary residence card, and cannot leave the country during that time (not even to go to Germany). If their application is missing the smallest detail, they often get informed many months later and have to set a new appointment, reapply and the waiting time is counted from zero again! And try getting someone to give you reliable information... For example, that's important to have stamp X. Now once all that is fixed, and people can get informed easily and get their documents in order relatively quickly (the level you expect in the tax office or ZUS - which are not exactly the golden standard either), then being strict will totally make sense. I'm all for deporting people who *knowingly* and by *disregard* go against the rules, or others will start to do that en masse. The good advice "keep your papers in order" will spread by word of mouth and become obvious. But Becca is an example that right now overstepping legal requirements often comes from becoming disoriented from jumping all those legal hoops and a lack of reliable information.
@drautabecca

It seems like you work in the immigration office because you know a lot about how things are done over there, it’s important to ask questions because ignorance isn’t an excuse and that was my problem and just not knowing sent me back home.

@@piotrb4240 Best comment on here! it is 2021 and I agree, since a foreign student would not know they need a stamp along with the application, it is and was the responsibility of the immigration officer to advise them properly and ensure their documents are in order. From an American perspective, that was VERY unprofessional and inefficient service. The consulate is there to advise the public, not hold them accountable for their mistakes. A bureaucracy in an office like this should not exist in 2021.

@@piotrb4240 really?!polish bureaucracy is backward and the worst.imagine waiting 2 years to get your student TRC.thats how students from Wroclaw wait to get 1 year TRC.thats too stupid and absurd.if you dont have easy system to make people legal and organized you cant be strict.Germany is very very strict with rules but their system is fast and smart.for ex.their embassy is super active and responding.Poland embassy on the other hand very backward and full of mean and lazy people.Poland must have some reform on the immigration office and how they treat foreigners.

It is a waste of time for students to go thru this stress every time of the year honestly. So a Ph.D. student will have to renew every year to remain to do his/her research?

@@drautabecca wow. yes, it is crazy. It's a pity they don't function like the dutch NL.where the admissions office processes these documents for students. Additionally, student Visa's worldwide normally cover the entire duration of a programme (not just year 1) thereby mitigating these inconveniences for international students. I would be curious to learn why the Polish consulate / Uni does things so differently.

Why we all stay in Africa and stop exporting our resources to Europe. We have everything I'm Africa to live a life with a high standard of living. Europe has never been an Eldorado. If you don't have education but just come here to do jobs which Europeans don't want to do themselves and struggling each year to get your papers, then most will return back broken. Africa is so rich but still we don't see that and still believing that going to Europe will make a person something worthy. Europe is in great decay and people are more and more poor and unhappy. Third thing before they take you to office from your home why cannot you provide you lawyer who take care of your case Fourth complete your mistake in this issue please always you need to caution about visas extension and procedures in Poland I know this poland immigration and people slight some different than western I agree but you shouldn’t give them chance to show finger on you so completely is you mistake unfortunately all best for you further aboard stay

kim Jon Un - this horrible it was not racism, it's just a stupid law that all white people are subject to as well. We are honored when such great people come to Poland, we know when the law is stupid, but stamps....but office, it is really problem

Are you crazy? Her case has nothing to do with racism. Why are you guys looking for racism everywhere? Okay, I know. You've had colonies and slaves for centuries and some people like it to this day and others feel guilty about it. Either way, this is a topic for you. Well, imagine that there are countries in the world that never had colonies and never held slaves. They simply don't have that experience, moreover - the basis of their culture wouldn't allow such a thing.
