In this week's vlog, the underlying theme is that sometimes life is challenging and we don't always get everything right. Having support makes a massive difference and when we have a small win, we need to celebrate this. Working as a psychologist full-time is a big job but I love it so much. Even seeing six clients a day, it still feels incredibly rewarding. I couldn't believe how much I got done this week just by focusing on little steps. So I hope this week's vlog inspires you to take small steps in your own life towards your goals.

Hi Kathleen, been enjoying the videos. Could you do one on the biggest things you've learned when you actually started seeing clients? I'm curious to hear what the things you didn't expect were, like an expectations vs. reality, or biggest sticking points etc. I feel like as students we have these expectations of what it might be like and get nervous as a result, so it would be cool to hear about what it's actually like compared to what you thought (both good, bad, easy, and challenging). Thanks!

Hey Kathleen, I hope you're doing well! I've been following your KZbin channel and really appreciate the insights and experiences you share about studying psychology in Australia. I'm currently a 19 year old female from India, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Honours. I'm considering pursuing a master's degree in psychology with a specialization in either clinical or professional from Australia. However, I've come across some concerns and uncertainties regarding the process. After conducting research, I've learned that I would need to complete an additional one-year diploma in psychology before pursuing my master's. As you mentioned in your previous videos that admission into master's programs in clinical psychology in Australia can be competitive for international students like myself, which has left me feeling a bit anxious about my decision. As I'm currently in my first year of studies, I'm reaching out to seek guidance on how I can improve my chances of being accepted into these programs. What steps can I take during my undergraduate studies to strengthen my application and stand out as an international student? Your insights would be incredibly valuable to me as I navigate this journey. Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide!

Hi Anureet, I’m so glad you’ve found this content helpful and thank you for your kind words! Entry to postgrad is competitive for all students (national and international), however the two main things I’d recommend, to give you a competitive edge - focus on minting a high GPA and volunteer for a counselling organisation like LifeLine. I wish you all the very best and I hope this advice helps 🫶

@@kathleenanne Thank you, Kathleen, for your informative reply! Can you please confirm if it's possible for me to do online internships at Lifeline while I'm currently in India? If not, would it be feasible for me to do internships here in India and obtain certification and get good letter of recommendations? Thanks again!
