I loved this video! You look like you belong there now, a true native with your Russian hat! Proud of you, Alex! This isn’t going to be a comfortable journey; make sure your making time to process and all new uncovering before you share it with your viewers. Hold space for your special moments, too, just for you. And then reflect on them later, maybe for others to take away! Best of all, this is your rediscovery journey, so glad to be living vicariously through you! Xoxox, thank you!

Alex - you are doing great. The everyday slog of learning a language in the country where it is spoken is something that is really hard to do. But you learn fast, which is the extraordinary advantage of being in country and having no choice but to speak it - as frustrating as it can be at times. And mentally exhausting, too. The problem in measuring improvement in a language is that you know all of the things you still can't say yet, all the conversations you still don't understand. I always felt that all the Russian I still didn't know would fit in a black hole. But you keep on and pretty soon you'll surprise yourself. Your humility serves and will serve you well. Just don't become disheartened, because I can already hear from your videos a distinct improvement. I am an aunt and great aunt many times over, and I feel as proud of you as if you were one of my nephews. Пока дорогой.

Hi Alex, I only came across your first video a few weeks ago and I’ve finally made it to this most recent one. You are remarkable in how you’ve dealt with all this. I’ve enjoyed every minute of your journey so far. I love your sensitivity in how you very much take into account your parents and your birth parents feelings when you speak about them. You’re a credit to them and they brought up a very well adjusted, compassionate and fine young man. I can see the joy in your eyes and smile each time you learn more about your country of birth and as for learning Russian, I’m well impressed !!! I’m absolutely thrilled that your relationship grew stronger with your birth parents and Russian family. You literally have the best of two worlds and that’s something to celebrate and to be proud of. It’s been like watching a love story unfold ❤️ I look forward to watching more, enjoy and stay safe 😊☘️🇮🇪

It's fascinating seeing the videos of Russia and the people living there in such an intimate and personal way. It shows the importance of travel and learning different cultures around the world. I grew up at the height of the Cold War. I can still remember the Cuban Missle Crisis, the Berlin Airlift, and the fears we had as Americans of Russia and a nuclear holocaust. We always viewed Russia as our national enemy, and we never, and I mean never, for a second saw individual Russians on a personal and human basis who, like us, were struggling in their daily lives to simply survive and face the struggles of every day life. We never once pictured individual Russians facing the same sorts of fears and anxieties we were facing in regards to war and nuclear annihilation. I imagine Russians were going through the same feelings about us. I think there would be more international understanding and wars averted if there were more videos like yours.

@@denysemcalister6218 As an example of the importance of learning to understand people, especially heroes, from different countries on an individual basis, this is a little known fact not taught in American history classes concerning the Cuban Missle Crisis. During the most tense moments of the Cuban Missle Crisis, a Soviet Commander, Vasili Arkhipov, an officer aboard a Russian submarine, refused to fire a nuclear torpedo, thus averting nuclear disaster. He's been called the "Man Who Saved the World." Can you imagine how it would change the views and perspectives of many people around the world if it was commonly known that a Russian commander saved the world from a nuclear holocaust? Alex, I saw your story unexpectedly and I am amazed how you were drawn to meet your biological parents. Nothing better could happen to you if you ended up in an orphanage. Your mother was a young girl when she became pregnant. In Russia, vodka flows in streams and the youth have nowhere to have fun. And where the head is drunk, as they say, the ass is sold. But she, in all her drama, did not perform an abortion in a country with approximately 4,000,000 abortions a year. She chose the best evil possible. She put you in an orphanage. What she had to go through then was only herself and God knows. But finally there were people, good people, who came from one end to the other end of the world to adopt you. Throughout your story, there is no doubt a hand of God that made you live. Your spontaneity and empathy allows me to say that your mother is of a different origin than Russian, or at least half of it. There is only one nation that behaves as spontaneously as you. I think there are many more surprises waiting for you in life, but you must be a righteous person. If I understood correctly your mother's surname is Guzovskaya (Guzowska). Guz - Bump (read gooz) is the subject of her last name - I have a terrible bump on my forehead. Good luck Alex.
