I have a friend that I'm distancing with, has to get hair, nails done, goes into debt every Christmas for at least 10k, says it's stupid to worry about all this stuff. Hard to deal with someone who has no gratitude for our great nation that is slipping away by the day. Many Americans have gotten too comfortable with what we have and don't realize that it can all be taken away.

A story to share. We have a small moveable structure that needed to be taken apart. Husbands is struggling with some health issues and he had work to do yesterday for a deadline, so he came out and showed me how to use circular saw (and I already knew how to use the rest of the tools) and I took it down. When things need to be done, you have to step up as needed. I did it! Thank you for sharing your Blessings story.

My husband gave me the greatest compliment yesterday…. He said that he just enjoyed watching me go throughout my day making every minute count. He is 66, still works 40 plus hour week in construction. I have always been a stay at home homemaker. We have raised 3 children, all married and in the trades and are blessed with 6 grandchildren. My moral code has always been to “ live my example”. Everyday I am able, I try to schedule a sit down time to watch “ The Waltons” on TV…. It keeps me grounded and reminds me of the stories my parents told of surviving during the Great Depression. I’ve got this, with your guidance, Patera❤️

Officially single. My partner up and left a little over a week ago. Made an excuse for why he needed to leave late last Thursday night to meet up with folks he was supposedly going hiking with the next day. Haven't seen or heard from him since, and thanks to social media I know he's not dead or injured somewhere because he's active on certain messenger apps everyday. I'll admit it hurts, but I'm seriously glad he showed me his true colors now. I don't want a partner like that, who can't be honest or loyal, and who would end up being dead weight when it comes to things that need to be done on the farm and homestead. I don't want someone like that around for what's coming. I'd rather be alone and lonely than dealing with someone who probably wouldn't help or protect me if something actually did happen. I'm a woman possessed now. My priorities are all about my commercial farm and my personal homestead, building up my stores and supplies, making a living for myself, and doing what I need to do for my survival and for the survival of my animals and the few family members I have that truly do love and care for me. And maybe a man will come along who ends up being all the things I want and need...or maybe one won't. My priorities will continue to be the same regardless.

Totally agree! My preps and knowledge helped us out this morning! Woke up to no power(which meant no water, no stove), but sent my family off to work with full bellies and warm from a hot cup of coffee to get them going! Mama even spoiled them and warmed up water for them to wash their faces and brush their teeth. My family is thankful to have a Mama who knows how to take care of them, I may not be the beautiful, but I can take care of my family.

Just doesn't seem practical or necessary when there are other, more important things to do. I guess it means my makeup will last longer for times when I may want to glitz it up a bit. Patera people have no idea on what’s coming. My kids have been preparing. My oldest daughter flew across the country to Virginia for a week class at a homestead. They taught her a lot and she came back full speed. That was last year. She’s already paid back the 1500. she needed for the trip and education.❤❤❤

I'm 65, taking care of special needs grandchild and two 90 yr old parents, both on hospice. I'm doing ALL I can and we PRAY. Love you and thank you again. I gain so much knowledge here.🙏❤❤

My Mom lived through the depression and having her husband, my Dad, leave to go fight WWII. She was the strongest, kindess person I have ever known. She taught me so much for which I am thankful. I, like you, would love to be able to talk to her and asked questions that I didn't ask. She told me many things and I listened. I fear these days young people don't listen. There are too many distractions.

I was talking to my 18 year old son last night about a news story I hunted up about the mass layoffs in the tech sector that is starting to bleed over into other industries. He is working at an auto parts store while in trade school and last year of high school. I told him that the cuts were and are coming. I told him to bust his ass and be the best damn employee that they will ever have. Do more. Work harder. Do things beyond his assigned tasks. Learn more. Be the guy they don’t want to cut hours on. Be the guy they don’t want to cut or lay off. Be worth more than your pay. Take pride in your job. Hard times are coming again. Hold on tight to his job. He likes it there. And it is close enough to home that he could walk if he had to. It was the best advice I could give him. Hope he listens.

The great grandmother you described could have been mine. I wish I could ask her how she survived but she was gone home to glory when I was too young to think of such things. I am a grandmother who seldom wares make up and wish I had enough hair to show gray. I am beyond blessed with a good husband who loves his family and we prepare together the best we can.

Some single women are not even looking for a man at all. They're not looking for a woman either, in case your mind goes there. Some single women have had enough disrespect and trauma that they are just happily living a serene, peaceful, quietly productive life with their furbabies. Oh, and TODAY they are finishing up the chicken run in anticipation of the 6 girls they have coming home to roost next week! ;)

I put in 50 hrs at work last week, took care of our rabbits(we had 27 kits born during the week) then finally we both had a day off together on Sunday. We spent that day visiting family, going to Lowes, then while my husband was building on our new rabbit colony house I was planting onions and flowers and then we planted potatoes. We we so happy to have a day off together and working together was great! Spend time together and keep working!

You are so right to remind us of the important stuff. I went shopping today; bought 3 cans of beannies and 3 more cans of cat food. Also bought some more seeds for the garden . I spoiled myself and bought 2 small bunches of flowers (2/10.00$) I consider myself blessed that I can grace my home with some pink flowers. Winter is not over here in Quebec, so we are still waiting to start gardening. My fingers are itching to start. Meanwhile, I plan, prepare, learn and take care of projects around my small home.

My Grandmothers lived through these events and were both widowed young and had to raise their families alone. They made it through, and family was everything to them, probably because they suffered so many losses. They passed when I was in my 30s so I got to hear their stories. They preached frugality and hard work. Waste not, want not. Mend and make do. The only spoiling I got was with their time and attention. Their lessons got me through some hard times. They are my heroes. I won't let them down.
