Being Herbie

Every time I see Herbie, I smile and he just makes me feel like there's a reason to live. I've been going through a ton of depression and whenever I see Herbie, whether he's on TV or in person, he always turns my cloudy days into sunny days. I'm hoping that one day, I'll own a Herbie and do whatever it takes to make him happy. Whenever he's sad, I'll carry him on a nice sunny cruise in the country and when he's mad, I'll calm him down by comforting him. Whenever I get a Herbie, I'll treat him like he's my own son because honestly he'll be the only friend I'll have when I get him cause I have no friends at all. Herbie may be a car but he's a person just like the rest of us. Being human doesn't make you a person, your PERSONality makes you a person. Herbie will forever be the one to make our grey skies clear and our darkness bright. Dean was one lucky man to own Herbie and live his life with the little fella. I know someday I'll get a Herbie and I'll make sure that he feels right at home and make sure he'll never be upset cause I love him like a brother. Those who own a Herbie, be sure to love him until his last mile, cause he the only person who will never hurt you or treat you like trash. Rest in Peace Dean, we all miss you

I love Herbie so much! For some reason I can't explain, Herbie is the only soul on Earth I can say "I love you" to without feeling awkward. He's just so lovable and adorable, I can't wait to own him someday! It's the biggest dream/goal I have for my life. When I do get him I will treat him with lots of love and I will make sure he is happy. About a year ago was when my childhood Herbie obsession became new again. Since then I've always had a special place in my heart for Herbie, and I always will. I know there are still lots of fans out there, but he deserves more love than he gets these days. Herbie is the little car with a big heart!!!

your video and story is truly inspiring I have a 1973 volkswagen super beetle now it's is a little different then a 63 standard beetle that herbie is but the herbie movies are really what started my love for these cars and got me to get my 73 and this video definitely gives me a strong motivation to get mine back on the road

Justin, This is touching and epic. James reaction to the HGB overboard scene is too much. It's like you went back to 1991 and filmed me watching it for the first time. LOL. Very good! Congrats man. What an awesome project to have with your family to enjoy. I Loved watching Herbie everyday growing up. I completely understand. As a matter of fact, My great grand father was director of film photography at Disney and filmed Herbie. He worked with Dean Jones and the cast. Herbie is special to me too. I do the same with my boys but with Ford Mustangs.

Herbie was produced before I was born. I was Born in ‘88. But My grandmother had some vhs and I grabbed a vhs that was supposed to have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles recorded on it and seemed like my grandmother recorded The Love Bug and I loved the movie and being 31 yrs old Herbie is still one of my favorite films. Its true many movies today lacks the innocence that Herbie brought to the films. My sons name is gonna be Jim Herbie (Last name) 😂

Great job with your Herbie! That is one very authentic Herbie, except for the fake gas cap on the right side. But I can imagine how you feel with your accomplishment of creating a Herbie. I've been there! In 1982, I bought a white 1962 sunroof bug that I made into a Herbie. I bought paperback copies of all four love bug movie books so I can look at the pictures. I did this in order to figure out how to make the stripes and the 53's. There were no "Herbie kits" that one could order online back then.

Sad fact about the Herbie they sent off the cruise ship they never found that one in real life never recovered people say the salt water took its toll and sank it because although the volkswagen bug can float on water for 72 hours 3 days being in the ocean was not built for that

DrivingHabits there’s no reason at all why you can’t slap some stripes and numbers on your 82 and call it Herbie. People do it all the time. What matters is that it brings you and others joy. Post your project progress on the fb Herbie the love bug fan base if you do. Cheers.
