Brave even to get that far Frank! Good effort but the right decision. You could even do Creag Mhor from the other side now! Cycle right in to the base of the hill and up and back! Easy peasy!! Paulo

Cheers Paul, glad I got to that one as it was a steep pull up the hillside, weather was just getting worse and there’s no fun carrying on in that. Yeh I’ve got options now for Creag Mhor. Cheers again mate. ATB Franko.

Good effort to get up there to the summit. It’s so easy to talk yourself out of it, when the clags down an the winds are up! Thanks for sharing.

Weather looked pure pants Frank.Made the right decision to retrace ur steps as the Peat hag bealach in between the 2 Munros would have destroyed ur spirit.😂😂Still think going back in that way for Creag Mhor is a great option as it's a gradual climb up that path u spotted and reasonably dry which i wasn't expecting.Some people have taken in the top "Meall Tionail" on there descent back to Loch Lyon which they enjoyed. Never fancied the route from the other Glen as Walkhighlands puts up and I like to be different too,lol.😂👍

Cheers Andy, yeh it’s a nice cycle along the loch side and I’ll defo do Creag Mhor from same route. Yeh once I was up on summit ridge weather was closing in fast and I knew I had that big crossing which I didn’t fancy in those conditions 🤣🤣 btw that’s a steep pull up to the ridge, was knacked after it🤣. I may take in the other hill if time etc allows when I return. Cheers again mate ATB Frank

Horrible conditions Frank and wise choice to bail when you did, no pleasure in that but well done on persevering for first Munro. Not a lover of waterproof trousers, they’re either crap or too warm, prefer to just take a change with me….take care mate, Steven 😊👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Cheers Steven, glad I did the 1st as it wasn’t a wasted day. That was a steep pull by the way. I’m going back tomorrow to get that 2nd one done🙏 I’m a bit with you re waterproof trs, I think there sweaty as well and with lightweight walking trs being easy to dry it’s prob best just to carry on, unless it’s a monsoon. I’ll just need to remember to bring something to change I think back at the car. Thanks again ATB Frank

Hi James thanks for the comments, yeh I thought I might as well keep my hill fitness up by attempting the 1st at least. Atleast with that route you miss the big bog.. Two munros that I've still to do and the nearest still to do , think the big bog keeps putting me off , but since you've shown it from the North side mmm ? Wondering where you decided to cut off from the loch track? Do guys ( PA adventures , ECT) never use Strava ? Good way to show your exact route and photos , walk profiles and more .. Good way of keeping track of when you did the hills. If you took the walkhighlands way in for the other one can you not cycle right to its foot? Only 50 to go from this vid.. I'm stuck on 217 right now , not been out for over 6 weeks due to toe surgery , ingrown nail removal 😲
@hikingwithfrank315
@hikingwithfrank315 Жыл бұрын
Hi, 1st up hope your recovering well, sounds painful. Yeh I was putting these off because of the stories about the peat bogs etc. I watched a vid going this way and looked a better alternative. I’m just back from doing Creag Mhor on sat and I went the exact same way and it was no bother at all. You cycle for 4.3 miles which takes around 50mins if your not stopping to film. You cut off the loch track just at a river crossing, at the other side of the crossing you can’t go any further because of a locked gate. The going up to Creag Mhor is very good from this approach, but you’d prob be doing both in the one go. Yeh you can cycle in from the other approach also. The cycle from loch Lyon is very picturesque and straight forward. Paul uses nice graphics to show his routes now, I’ll need to maybe get to grips with something like Strava. My vid for Creag Mhor should be ready by end of week and it’s a nice gradual walk up to it. Hope you get back out soon as I know what I was like with my ankle. I was off the munros for 8 weeks with. Thanks again ATB Frank.

Hi Alistair, weather has been so iffy at the moment. I’ll tackle Creag Mhor when there’s a good chance of seeing something from the summit. I’ll need to have a look at some decent waterproof trs as my Jottnar jkt is pretty waterproof. Have you done all the Lawers now.? ATB Frank
