The Lebanese capital has indeed become the rallying point for the Middle East's jet set. But these posh neighborhoods are an ultra-secure enclave in a city that lives in fear of attacks and remains torn between East and West.
South Beirut is controlled by Hezbollah. With financial help from Iran, the Shiite political movement recruits tens of thousands of sympathizers who are entirely committed to this cause.
