He is a wonderful and warm human being! Just listening to him and when you actually meet him. I first met him maybe two years after this the last time I saw him was 2014. But he’s always doing something

I almost saw him prior to the pandemic. Just saw him yesterday for the first time in a small theater in the middle of Sonoma. It was an experience. Already scheming to do it again....

his great musicianship and beautiful voice almost gets lost in all that charm. haven't been to one of his shows in a long time! i remember they felt like having attended a really rare amazing inspiring sermon.

What a great video! I love when stuff pops up that I have never seen before. This is really the only video of Jonathan I have seen that really captures the joy of his shows of that classic era. He always seemed most comfortable in front of foreign audiences. Looks like someone finally let him talk without asking idiotic questions. Never seen him smile so much while talking about himself!
@dynjarren83552 жыл бұрын
He’s a genuine eccentric and he is committed to his music. And he’s very earnest and expresses his enthusiasm in his songs. I didn’t know he even played the Sax. He tries hard to connect with the audience and win them over. So I can’t say anything. I prefer the Modern Lovers but he’s completely jettisoned the previous music he made. I wish him well and success.

I don't think this was 1984. In 84, Jonathan was touring with a full band (Ellie Marshall, Beth Harrington, Michael Guardabascio, etc) He didn't tour with only Brennan Totten and Andy Paley until about 1987 - it was these three that put together the album Modern Lovers '88

@trapadoored11 жыл бұрын
I'd like to know just that. I've been watching this video for a while now but it still perplexes me. It's gotta be one of the best Richman live things I've seen, but all most the songs are clipped and it's obscure as hell! I would want a full dvd release of the whole show, but I think this version with the shortened songs is the only version that exists, because it was some kind of documentary for foreign TV. I wonder if Jonathan has even seen it.
@ScottishTeeVee6 жыл бұрын
It's from a show called "Arsenal" made for and broadcast by TV3 which is a Spanish TV channel, filmed at Otto Zutz Club, Barcelona, Spain, Broadcast on April 10th 1986. This version, you have been watching is from a 2012 Digital rebroadcast, but it's been edited, the original broadcast has more video of Jonathan wandering around Barcelona, with music overdubbed. Im Digitising my original 32 year old Betamax recording of this as I type and by the time you read this it will be on my KZbin channel in full, which is 30mins.
