Bekonscot Model Village and Railway, located in the town of Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire. This is the oldest and most famous model village in the world - 'A little piece of history that is forever England'. The model village portrays England mostly in the 1930's. These shots were taken on the 2nd August 2015.
Bekonscot was first created by Beaconsfield resident, accountant Roland Callingham in 1928, when his wife announced that either she left or the railway left. Thus the railway moved outdoors. Drawing in help from his staff, they developed the model landscape portraying rural England at the time.
As well as the village and it's surroundings, Bekonscot contains one of the UK's finest outdoor Gauge 1 railways. The network has more than ten locomotives, links seven stations and runs on 8.5 scale miles (450 real metres) of track.
A truly wonderful and excellent model village and railway, I urge anyone to visit (young or old) if you get the chance to do so!

I made my sister go on our trip to England last year. She was humoring me until we got in, then she didn’t want to leave! 😂 It was awesome, fun, and nostalgic.

When I visited I took my girlfriend who had no idea where we were going. I had the same, she didn't want to leave when I thought she would possibly not enjoy the visit. It's certainly an excellent place.

Very good, really enjoyed your movie! I took my children when they were small and they went on for years being inspired by the lovely place, making miniature people and buildings into their teens, thank you for jogging such wonderful memories X

Such a beautiful place and all the more impressive when you remember it was originally built for charity! Long before Legoland Windsor, with its more modern Miniland, opened and the only 1 that existed was in Denmark (which may as well have been on Mars when I was a kid as my parents were very un-adventurous with holidays and seldom went abroad) this place was an utter dream come true for me. I love to make landscape models as a hobby, inspired in no small part by Bekonscot, though for my own twist, I "tropicalise" the flora and fauna with fish tank plants, plastic palm trees, green feathers for ferns and exotic animal figures....

Thanks for this. Excellent camera work, it brought back long ago memories of being a kid and taken to Beaconsfield Model Village (as it was then) on a family day out, probably in the late 1950s. I have a photographs of self, parents, an uncle & aunt standing beside the girder railway bridge over the river with the airport in the background. For reasons unknown there was a model Concorde on the grass and wondering how it was ever going to take off - in the mind of a child. I've always wanted to go back and never did. Well done, you've brought the Village to me. I spent most of my time watching your video trying to match up monochrome photographs my father took back when I was a small person. Still all there too. One of us lot, the bridge, the river and the pier in the background. It was heaving with people who walked at the pace of the slowest person. Just a bit tiring for a child, I recall. I shall have to watch this again now, trying not think of old photos while I do so. Thanks again.

+NapierNimbus Thanks Ian. Myself and Amy really enjoyed visiting Bekonscot. The dedication and attention to detail in terms of model making, keeping the garden aspects and operating the railway are quite remarkable.

Excellent video Hayden. Reminds me of Babbacombe model village in Devon which I went to many years ago. I don't remember them having a working railway, as I was more interested in the models of the road vehicles which were the same scale as my HGV kits!

+cmeonthemove Thanks Chris. Babbacombe is another that I've heard of that I'd like to visit. I have to admit I was also quite interested in the plants, shrubs and topiary they had here as well as the model railway.
