When you know the context for whole Bel'Vth design - she is pretending to be human all the time. Her basic form is puppet or disguise. Her cinematic, story and animations. It all says that she is trying to pretend that she is human. For us it's obvious - she is monster - but for characters in league her charisma and looks are enough to be seen as big woman not a monster that she trully is. Riot wants you to think "Look a monster champion!" "Look! pretty female champion!" but her showing pretty fake face on splash art/icon is technically corect. She is like "Look at me. I'm one of your kind!" Riot wanted her to be special voidborn.

About Bel'veth having two forms and gaining human features unkwowingly, unconsciously and/or out of her control, I think it CAN make a lot of sense actually! In your 2022 season rewind, you said that Belveth may think that she's more powerful than she actually is, because she inherited human defaults as ego and pride as she ate a ton of humans. In that sense, human nature is for her what the void is for Runeterra : an infection, something that try and succeed in some way to modify it, change it by its core nature And as Bel'veth interact more and more with humans so they help her beat the Watchers, her "human form" become more and more her "normal form", when her monster form is left aside because...yk, she's becoming more human The two forms would be there as an illustration of her internal conflict

What makes Bel'veth quite disappointing is that her lore is like the inferior version of what it's supposed to be if that makes sense? Like they really tried to give her this grand announcement and gave her such a big role yet they didn't optimized it to it's fullest potential. Her lore has all of the requirements to be pushed forward or to be made more clear but they didn't go anywhere with it and at the end her lore just went flat.

Bel'Veth's release is one of the most dissappointing things in the history of the game. They hype this champion, teasing her for almost (over?) a year, including her "possessing" someone in the season preview video, changing splashes on the website, and adding lines in the game for some champion, just for Nilah to come out two weeks after her release and Riot to just never acknowledge her or the Void event they were building up.

For SG Morgana: I agree that Bel'Veth would have been a good choice as well, I think what I like about Morgana is she works better as a "dark reflection of the heroes'", looking similar enough to the SGs but also being this "dark, mature, lost innocence" version of them. Bel'Veth is maybe a bit too monstrous to pull it off. Whereas Fiddle represents the "tragic fall/corruption" side of lost innocence. And while these are common Magical Girl tropes, I think they show up enough in other media to still fit. Star Nemesis Morg also just has really good particles, probably my favorite skin of her's visually, and I don't think it would have been the same with Star Guardian colors imo.

I like the idea of something deviating from it's original purpose. Take the new who lone cyberman (for those who suffered by watching the new seasons of dr who, i feel you) but the cybermen are souless beings with 1 purpose, to upgrade. But enter the lone cyberman who has aggression, ego, a mind of his own. Something the normal cybermen deemed as not needed because it makes them lesser or imperfect. But it is their downfall. If the void's success was their lack of ego, pride, emotions. Then Belveth having those things but viewing it as "oh haha, I have the higher kill count, that makes me the strongest voidborne" her downfall would make her a pretty interesting perspective on the void champs as a whole, Since Vel'koz has his whole going rogue thing, but it's more of a personal thing to himself. While Belveth could be the key for runeterra to actually beating the void since Belveth can be what turns her against the void. But all in all, I hate her humanoid design, make her a manta thing or make her a human, pick a lane. And like you said her not lying then lying makes 0 sense. I personally hate belveth and want more void love, Like Kha'zix, Cho'Gath, Kog'maw. We know literally like nothing about them and the void has so much potential. And yet the most we get on it is a sexy Venomsona chick who thinks she is hot shit because she came back from hell looking like a super model. Talk about dissapointing :((

It would fit really well for her character. but I also thought if they really wanted to put in a pretty girl champion, Evelyn would have been a decent choice. It's just Riot's insistence that everyone be a hot human (and gameplay implimentation incompetence) trampling over champion design again. Belveth should have been a proper implementation of the 'mother of monsters' aspect of Reksai's design - a proper void general, summoning waves of swarming minions and surging down a lane to dismantle fortifications of the enemy fucks up their macro. Instead, they made her a hot lady, and also an stabby assassin for some reason? And a manta ray? She stabs people really fast with her manta ray wings and like... levitates around? It just looks so fking stupid lol. Throw the whole design out, make one of reksai's abilities summoning the minions.

Dang, you are right, there should be a star nemesis bel'veth! btw, morgana was supposed to be literally the principal of the highschool the star guardians were attending, and for the character they needed for that story, morgana was absolutely perfect, but, there are basically only 3 star nemesis's including zoe... I don't know when more star guardian stuffs is happening, but whenever it is, it would be insanely cool to have bel'veth be one... like, a human who is turning into a giant space monster... they actually sort of did a similar theme with cosmic matriarch bel'veth, which I do like, but she's a good guy in that universe! I wanna see her be an evil villain! or heck, maybe she's a being like fiddlesicks, which is trying to turn back into being human, but every time she has to fight off stuff like the star guardians she goes back to full monster I really like bel'veth's design, and I think her being a monster who wants to eat everything makes her perfect for the jungle role, and her gameplay is extremely skill expressive and unique, and I love how when she successfully takes down baron, she immediately gains an entire army of voidlings and just devours everything which is quite literally exactly what she would normally do after securing baron anyway, and it fits perfectly with her character also, it makes perfect sense that she'd be a acaling champion, I mean, she is a voidborn, and they kind of aren't true voidborn if they neither evolve nor consume, as kai'sa, kha'zix, bel'veth, cho'gath, all do really well and ye, vel'koz doesn't really eat things, and that also makes sense, he represents the thoughtful and analytical parts of the void, as a third party observer, which is great because he is literally a floating eyeball, and he discintegrates things and people down to their atoms to understand and analyse them, it is also fitting that the thing vel'koz is corrupted by is actually knowledge itself, and I think it's great that because he rips people apart to that level, he still is no closer to understanding people and society and then we have bel'veth, who yes, does know enough about people to build a foul mimicry the lavender sea, but it's a literally hellscape filled with mindless structures which are arranged haphazardly and nonsensically, her lips don't move in sync with her words and her legs are just fins which look vaguely leg-like, she sways as though she has hips but in fact that is just a vague mimicry of what she thinks people do there are some things that it's impossible to really design into a moba for balance reasons, and noone wants a yorick clone who eats minions and occasionally pops out a void minion, and then build houses out of ingested material which function like an anivia wall to block of enemy escape in the jungle, and then have a recast to let it grab and restrain nearby champions so that they get restrained by it while it blocks off their escape ok no actually tbh that would have been really freaking sick, honestly I think they could keep her ult and maybe passive the same tho, maybe her minions attack speed, or number of minions, would scale with lavender stacks, and the minions could probably stay the same as they currently are for her ult The main problem with minions is they, well, don't have a good enough ai, maybe when not ulting they could just do the naafiri thing, but now that's too much like naafiri tbh...

If I remember well it was Bel'veth itself the one who said that it doesn't lie, so it can be lying and it actually might still be loyal to the Watchers, it would be cool to have a champion that can even deceive even the player (I think Old Aatrox was one of those with its quotes about honor, glory and becoming a hero just to make sure everyone keep fighting until the very end with its "Some fight for honor, some fight for glory. Quick biology rant, but I love that they chose a Manta Ray for Bel'veth's true form, considering they are considered on the smart side of the marine life spectrum, with some considering they are one of the few animals out there speculated to have knowledge of gratitude and memory. That, and they are more adapted to deep-ocean swimming than originally thought, with new rescearch trying to adapt deep-sea vehicles to Manta anatomy.

I like to think that the only voidborn made by the watchers directly was VelKoz, thats why he has the voidy laser beams and disintegration stuff. Every other voidborn are just ...there. Yes Belveth considers herself all powerful but the only reason she can even think that is by chance since she ate a whole city. I like the characterization of Bel'Veth in her gameplay because even if she thinks of herself as a empress and speaks of herself as a magestic figure due to the human emotions she absorved, in her core she is a monster made to hunt and devour everything that is alive and seeing something rapidly poking you and killing you bit by bit is such a alien concept compared to how we would expect her to be, well fitting of the void, and then her true form is revealed when she eats your flesh in a very animalistic and savage way because that is her true nature The differences in behavior outside of combat and actions in combat make a interesting characterization by gameplay in my opinion, not the best one (that would probably be Kled), but a good one

Because she consumed so many humans, she started thinking like one and decided that the human form is what she truly is. The monster form is more of a tool she needed for combat. I honestly love Bel 'veth design. The fact that a void monster has consumed so much human material to the point it's trying to mimick humans and it looks uncanny af is what it sells it for me. But i also thank tb skyen for making me love the character contradiction in her design and lore. She thinks she understands human emotions but she's not. It's like if an eldritch god was mimicking a human and acting like one without understanding why those actions has a reason. Bel 'veth is uncanny and dreadful, and is one of my fav. champs from 2022 alongside Renata. And yea i do agree her gameplay is a bit disconnected from her lore, cause slapping everything is a bit goofy, but she's fun to play. I just wish her monster form became permanent after a while. Also big mantray with 2 pair of eyes and a big mouth makes perfect monster material, and i'm just glad riot decided to make bel 'veth more monster than human (and yes i despise ALL of her concept art cause there she just looks like Evelynn 2, and that was boring af. Good on riot for ditching those)

First thing's first, thank you nicky for giving us content despite being a sickyboi. Here's hoping ya get better! Secondly, I think a good choice for Bel'Veth that would help her fit her thematic, I think, would actually be swapping her E with her R, and letting her new E do one of two things; Either A. Be a transformation that works on a timer, I.E., she can only transform after consuming a certain amount of camps or killing epic monsters, giving her a certain amount of built up time depending on how many camps she's killed, or giving her a certain amount of spawns based on how many overall monsters she's killed. or B. her new E could just be her R swapped, consuming crystals for her transformation, y'know, the usual. Now, as for her new R, I suggest that they increase the radius and have it capable of hitting multiple champions at once. I like to use the joke with her current E that she just "hits everywhere at once" so she can hit stealthed champions... *BUT WHAT IF SHE DID?* Like, her E already acts as her "play maker" of sorts, she uses it to remove damage and such. Why not lock that behind an ultimate instead of her E? Sure, her clear might not be as good, but they can always adjust her numbers so that her first clear is more healthy :) Of course, I'm not a game designer. This isn't "Gospel", and even though I'm obviously the best at everything to ever exist *E V E R . . .* I'm still plenty stupid. I just thought this would be an interesting design :)

Azir and Yorick represent two major ways you could incorporate a character who "commands an army" into League, battle tactics and an advancing monster horde respectively. Bel'Veth sort of copies Yorick's gimmick only worse, and that's pretty much the only thing about her gameplay that meshes with her concept.

I always thought that Bel'veth was actually intended to be Xolaani but they switched to the void creature we know early in development. It just makes sense to me, Riot themselves stated that they design the kit first and champ theme second, and her abilities make way more sense on Xolaani (specifically the slashing and ramping attack speed and the E rapid attacks and the ult explosion). But they wanted to make this anti-Kaisa as you said, and then replaced her design early on. That's why it seems like such a clash of ideas that don't write fit together.

For me Bel'Veth's kit makes sense, she is not an empress because she is smart, she is an empress because she is the strongest and scariest voidborn, kinda like Lion is king of the jungle. Biggest fish in the sea doesnt need tricks to stab its food to death.

if you aren't feeling well then it may help to take a break or do a video that a bit easier, call in a sick day if you need to! The INTERESTING thing about her weird gameplay disconnect is that its easily fixed, just increased her Basic attack range a bit and have her basic attack be replaced by mini flying voidlings, and have her point at enemies that they fly at, like Azir does for his basic attack. Replace her E animation with her raising her wings as voidlings fly around her like Kai'sa's Q or Fiddles E

The "disconnect" is intentional. The idea is everything about Bel'Veth is not what it seems. It's not what you expect. She seems like an alluring woman, but she's actually a Void manta-monster. She seems like a backline control-mage, but she's actually an attack-speed dasher. Does it work? Well, that's a matter of personal opinion, I suppose.
