I think the scariest thing about Bel'Veth is that she's willing to cooperate with her prey to defeat the watchers, yet feels no need to hide the fact that once their beaten she'll come for us. It's shows patience, but more importantly, a certain level of respect of the potential of Runterran's. It's one thing to be confident in your victory, its another to have the brains to not be overconfident and overreach to quickly.

Same feelings 110%. It's rare with champs and honestly a lot of "villains" in gneral, but it's something I absolutely love. She doesn't really operate on malice beyond her completely innate desire to overtake and consume, but the fact she never hides and is so clear about her intentions, motives and has no pride to get in the way of asking for help despite how ridiculously powerful she is is refreshing *and* terrifying. She could very easily have been "Evil void arbiter, smoke and mirrors, I despise you all, suffer", but she's almost something extremely primitive and basic and *extremely* advanced at the same time, like a mix of baser and complex and I *love* that. They nailed the unfeeling hivemind thing imo

With those quotes everything sort of clicks for her theme, she constantly talks about the sea, waters or oceans. Shes a manta ray type creature. The boat in her cinematic. Probably formed as a void creature that devoured a seaside city and like all of the void she adapted and evolved along what she saw there. Cool design.

Her name Bel'Veth was actually the name of the city she consumed. And as you said/guessed, it was a port city on the coast of Shurima. When she devoured it she also swallowed a huge junk of the sea infront of the city's harbour.

I am reminded of The Darkness from Destiny 2, which has a long time emphasis on waters and the depths (The Hive and the darknesses other longest time servants refer to it as _The Deep),_ along with a tendency for mass extinction, corruption and, as of Witch Queen, an affinity for minds, memory and psychic powers. Bel’veth all but lives and breaths the hives Sword Logic, and her music even sounds like Vex music, The Vex being The Darknesses _other_ premier servants… when they’re not trying to destroy it and The Traveler too, it’s a complicated thing. The ones in The Black Garden, the Sol Progeny, are 100% loyal to the point of fanaticism, but the rest of the Vex Network either aids it try’s to hinder it depending on their latest mad science project. Like a 50/50 thing any given day.

the void used to be what its name implies: absolute black nothingness, with the formless, and not-self-aware watchers drifting through it. then, the physical universe was born. suddenly, there were things existing. the watchers woke up from this, and because they basically are the void, they decided they dont like it. bel'veth is part of a "new void". when it came into contact with reality, it changed. by consuming " real things", it corrupted itself so to speak, because suddenly those things became a real, physical part of it. and bel'veth is the ultimate expression of that: she doesnt want the watchers to succeed, bc that would mean she and everything else would just be annihilated, in the end, so the watchers would have their perfect nothingness back.

Bel'veth has interactions with all of the void champions, however, she still has a generic void champion interaction quote, this means there will be more void champions released soon, probably the new monster champion riot talked about is gonna be a voidborn.

I love that at 1:58, bel veth mentions that rek’sai has motherly instinct. I think that adds so much to her character. Maybe rek’sai has learned more intelligence then we first thought and she grew some sort of compassion and love for her brood. That would be an interesting twist on a stereotypical queen insect monster. And maybe she’ll fight against the watchers in order to keep her brood alive.

I just found out about a secret interaction between Bel'Veth and Malzahar! When you die as Malzahar, at random and without the need for Bel'Veth to be in game, as soon as you respawn she says in the background: "Malzahar! You have already seen the end, now you can see a new beginning!" Consider adding this!
