Leon became embraced by the fans after the Usman headkick KO, not because of Colby. The only thing fighting Colby did was cause fans to turn on Colby.

Leon said he asked for Belal on UFC 300, but the UFC felt like Belal wasn’t big enough to headline that big of a card. What do you want Belal to say in response to that? Admit he isn’t a star? Say Leon is right we could’ve fought but I just don’t have that many fans?

Massive UFC fan for many years here. I do film study everyday of my life for quite a few years, UFC capper, etc…I absolutely love Leon, he’s in my top 15 CURRENT favorite fighters, but I don’t think he ever becomes a superstar like some of the others you mentioned…unless he goes on a long reign like Volk did. I think people that watch the sport regularly like Leon and appreciate him…but to the casuals he’s just another fighter who holds the belt. Maybe I am wrong, that’s just my opinion though.

He's too inactive to ever become a champion like Volk. Volk and Izzy earned respect because they were active. Even people like myself who didn't care for Izzy, had to give him some respect because he was active. Leon is a guy who fights 1 or 2 times a year. That is what his normal and average fight schedule looks like. Nobody likes a champion who does that

I just thought Leon wasn’t that amazing. He’s really good. I was dead wrong. I don’t think the Colby who fought Usman would have lost to Leon, but I think Leon is amazing now. I also despise Bullhaul and think he has very little chance against Leon. Leon’s a walking anti-wrestler with elite kickboxing. It’s Bullhaul’s worst nightmare matchup. Bullhaul beating up a young prospect doesn’t equate to being able to stand up with Leon. After Bullhaul it’s gonna be Islam vs Leon and that is a MUCH better fight, I can’t wait for that.

Leon only got famous cause he was super emotional after vs Usman 2 He was basically crying and yelling in the ring interview, in the tunnel back to the locker room, he was on the phone to his mom and a camera happened to pick it up Once again, fans like stories, and after Usman 2, the fans found out Leons story and his "why"

Leon doesn’t draw so he needed a bigger draw partner and Belal wasn’t that. That’s all this is. All of a sudden the UFC is trying to become the WWE and just like Cody Rhodes Belal is going to finish the story and win against all odds and the UFC being so mad when it happens is gonna be a great story line 😂

Leon was still the B side to Colby, and he made his name off Usman who was the B side to Colby and Masvidal. If Colby and Masvidal didn’t bring so many eyes to the Usman fights, Leon’s head kick win is dramatically less impactful
