This is 2014 Beth. Go back ten years to Paradiso and watch wild Beth. Am I the One. Arguably one of the best live performances ever.

@@vikhaedan : I'll third that. Probably the best live performance ever. And I've seen 250 of 'm (including Prince, MJ, Tina, Bryan, you name it) as security. But Beth @ Paradiso? I've never seen that or anything close.

Like her Lie at the Royal Albert Hall after her recovery from several issues. The song "Leave The Light On (Live At The Royal Albert Hall)", where she talks about it before and the song is about her rebound. Still great as always Beth Hart, kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4XNaZ6Og6anq6c

One of the best blues duos ever in my opinion. I just love Beth's vocals. Joe is just incredible also.

What was so fun about the brass section was that during times when they weren’t playing brass they played percussion instruments. And they just looked like they were having the time of their lives.

I just watched this entire concert tonight on DVD. So great. Joe plays at least 4 or 5 different guitars during the show. This Telecaster. And a Strat. A traditional Les Paul and couple of other Gibsons.

Thank you for the video that I continue to follow every day , without getting tired.I have seen many interpretations of this piece and I think Beth's is the most beautiful ever ,besides the fabulous group, for voice, interpretation. There is so much fear, sweetness and then bursts out the anger the pain...Great Beth Hart..I am crazy about her! unsurpassed!!!! Whit love fom Roma Italy.

Joe and Beth together are amazing. Every song from that show is unbelievable. Give a listen to Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa doing "Stone Cold". I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Great reaction and narrative. I love the way you noticed Joe's technique, on what in my opinion is one of the Top Ten Solos of all time. The guitar is a '51 "NoCaster". named "The Bludgeon". BTW this song was a second Encore of a 15 song set !!

Beth and Joe are amazing on their own with their bands, and together they are magical. This is one of the best Etta James covers every done. They did a couple albums together, this album/concert is amazing. Check out "Somethings Got a Hold on Me", "Nutbush City Limits", "Cant' Let Go", "Close to My Fire" just a few to start with. One to get to the roots of Beth Hart is "Am I the One" live at Paradiso 2004, more at Paradiso "Mama", "Whole Lotta Love", "Leave the Light On", '"Immortal", "Broken & Ugly", "Monkey Back". Beth Hart "Caught out in the Rain' live at Royal Albert Hall, and "Take it Easy on Me". Those will get you started. She is still touring. Joe is equally amazing. Great reaction, I hope you do more.

I enjoyed your reaction for your insight into the instrumentation as well as the vocal performance, which is often overlooked. Beth is also known for her incredibly rapid vibrato. She's got a great ad-lib towards the end of the guitar solo, over the horns. New subscriber. You definitely need to dig deeper into both of these artists. They are contemporary Blues Legends!

Hey, really appreciate your detailed analysis and insights into her vocal choices and techniques...Many reactors are impressed and tell us "what a good singer" she is. No shit Sherlock, gravity pulls objects downward--tell us something worthwhile. Strangely, it seems that having actual singing experience and a musical background allows one to go beyond, "wow, that was good." Your comments were insightful and spot-on. Thanks. This is a marque performance, but for Beth Hart, believe it or not, it is fairly routine. Her discography is extremely deep and diverse (10 studio albums, 3 cover albums with Joe Bonamassa, and 5 live albums) and she writes phenomenal lyrics and music (always writes the music first) and masters Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc. BACKSTORY for this concert: This was the encore finale at the last show at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam in June 2013. It was part of a mini 4 city/5 show tour in Northern Europe (Norway, England, Belgium, Netherlands) in support of the "Seesaw" album-the second album collaboration between Beth and Joe of blues and soul cover songs. The band was Joe's and they had only 3 days of rehearsal (& only one day with everybody there) before starting the tour. The whole concert is like this-a master class in live performance…. You should do more of them together and each artist separately. Beth’s epic performance of “Am I The One” from the Paradiso in Amsterdam in 2004 is legendary (kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4PSYmxnl8yjbc0 ) Here’s a 20-song suggestion list just for BETH (only tip of the iceberg…told you her discography was deep): SINGER-SONGWRITER BETH (Original songs from the 2018 Royal Albert Hall concert in London): 1) “Caught Out in The Rain” (about an unhealthy relationship with a dangerous man): kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqvHe5ltfdanqs0 Sometimes this gets blocked….but if worried, there are many other superb performances. Here’s an acoustic version of this song from the Bing Lounge in 2013--just Beth and a piano: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIbOoJ1obMucZ9k . 2) "Leave The Light On" (about her turbulent childhood): kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4XNaZ6Og6anq6c 3) “Sister Heroine” (about losing an older sister to AIDS): kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4WakI2GfqaieZY 4) “My California” (about her husband Scott): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpypimeiprB8a8k ROCK STAR BETH (From the 2004 Paradiso Concert in Amsterdam): 1) “Am I The One” (epic original): kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4PSYmxnl8yjbc0 2) “Mama” (Beth alone on piano): kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2Onh5SJebKFg8k 3) “Whole Lotta Love” (Led Zeppelin cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYauiYNtl6aab6M 4) “Lay Your Hands on Me” (Beth at piano with band): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWebioSofrFnp5I BLUES GODDESS BETH (Beth & Joe collaboration-blues covers from 2013 ‘Live in Amsterdam’ concert): 1) “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know” (Al Kooper /Blood, Sweat, & Tears cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIC0YWqci7t3gLM 2) “Close to My Fire”(Slackwax cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5zQnmiMjdl_n5I 3) “Something’s Got A Hold on Me” (Etta James cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqq0dWiartSSbLc 4) “Nutbush City Limits” (Tina Turner cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn3Wn2dtqs1lgrM & 5) “I’ll Take Care of You” (Beth in a guest appearance at Joe’s 2011 ‘Live at the Beacon Theatre’ concert in NYC): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXfTmaifgt10bas OTHER BETH: (first 3 are covers) 1) “A Change is Gonna Come” (Sam Cooke cover; From the Echoplex in LA in 2010): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5-sfWt3gLyFhLM 2) “Whole Lotta Love” (killer acoustic version of the Zeppelin song in a tiny French radio studio, 2012): kzbin.info/www/bejne/oobEpqdoopmMl6s 3) "Black Dog" (Official Video from 2022; LZ cover): kzbin.info/www/bejne/foCblayZaciaebs 4) “Mechanical Heart” (original song about her husband; Live in Inas Nacht in Hamburg, Germany, Sept.2022) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/paelqKGInbStn7M 5) "House of Sin” (live in front of 70,000 fans at the 2005 Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands): kzbin.info/www/bejne/r33ZYYSrjJ2bftE 6) “Bottle of Jesus” (from 2006 German TV Rockpalast; first song that comes up; or click on SONG #1 from list- 00:00) or kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXmugnusqLB2g68 7) "One-Eyed Chicken” (from 2011 German TV Rockpalast concert): kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipDYqKSlr96Iepo

Well done! I really enjoyed your comments, they were very perceptive, right on. A lot of seemingly serious guitar players dismiss Joe, and I wonder if it's because he doesn't play most of his solos for the guitar players in the audience. As you said, he's playing for a different audience. And holy smokes, Beth can sing!

Really great analysis and reaction. Been a fan of Beth and Joe for years. The recommendation below of "I'll take care of you" is a good one. Great guitar solo. You understand singing, guitar and production so I would recommend taking a look at Nightwish with Floor Jansen "Ghost Love Score" That band is tight and Floor will blow you away with her vocal ability. I mean really! Take care.
