Whenever Angelina publishes a new song, or she has a song on a new concert, I am (im)patiently waiting for you to react to it. These days, lots reacts to Angelina songs, but most are not worth listening to, or viewing. Love your reactions. What can one say about Angelina, at this point, that hasn't been said a million times already? To me she is like a drug, I can't and don't want to distance myself from. It's been some 3-4 years now, and I doubt I will ever not be addicted

In addition to this latest of the POP version, there is now a video of the JAZZY version with Toby and a piano in the desert! But in this video I am glad they replaced that wimpy Mustang with a full on Ford LTD...much more robust, like Angelina's performance here!

Put your seat belt on because there's still more to come with this song. All her 'covers' (!) of her own music (who does this?) are so wonderful they can stand alone on their own merit and you have yet to listen to the jazzy version. There is a still version directly out of Toby Gad's 'Piano Diaries Album' and then a version of it with Angelina and Toby in the middle of a California desert. 'Bad Valentine's' jazzy version popularity is soaring all over Europe. Can't wait to watch and listen to your reaction.

Toby may not be in the position to actually sign arists at the moment. Although the collaboration with Toby has been great, if she were to sign with his label, would it limit her to work only with him or would she still be able to work with others?

This song was recorded in 2022 for Republic Records at the same time as her Old Enough EP songs so although Toby is the producer, the sound engineers and recording crew may be the same as her EP songs.

My take on why they may be trying to get out of the Republic contract is that the label may not be releasing enough of her material. We were all anticipating her first Republic album for a while but in the end only a 6 song EP (Old Enough) was released in summer 2023. We don’t know, but I assume the decision to not release a full album was Republic’s. We have learned recently that at least 8 more songs were recorded at the time (these were with Toby Gad as producer) however since a full album wasn’t released, songs were left unreleased. That included the 8 songs with Toby (one being Bad Valentine) and who knows, maybe others with other producers. A few months after the Old Enough release Angelina mentioned that her full album was coming out “very soon” however, that never materialized. Again we don’t know why. It’s been over a year since she announced that. All that has been released by Republic since was the single Our Time in October 2023 and her 5 song Christmas EP last December. 4 of the songs were from her 2021 Christmas concert. If not for her collaboration with Toby, there would probably not have been any releases from her this year. Therefore, that to me would seem to be the big reason for their dissatisfaction with Republic. It must be frustrating to have music that she can’t release.All speculation but it makes sense. I’m concerned about what happens to the studio Republic apparently built for her.

You're right, I guess the result of a song production will always be somewhere on a scale between the two extremes "gives me a headache" and "elevator music". I've seen another singer go to Nashville to produce her album. And I regret to say, the result of what they produced with that one is elevator music. Some seem to like it, but I feel it totally removed the uniqeness of her voice. So kudos to the production team here, they got it right with Bad Valentine. And in my opinion better than her first releases with that Stargate producer duo from Norway. I always felt those were overproduced.

I guess it’s all a matter of personal taste. After most fans were used to the simplified live version of this song from the Hotel Cafe, which is the first time we heard it, many felt this studio version was overproduced. Was interesting to learn that this version was actually recorded 2 years ago. I wonder how the critics would have felt if this version was released first, a year or so ago as originally intended. I can see how some could feel that Shield and Million Miles could be over produced but i personally love them. I have no problem with the production. I especially love Shield which I wish she would perform live.

Look at republics roster. She really doesn't fit. I wonder if they were trying to push her into a skin show like most of the other talent. I don't think she's ready for a tour. Maybe she's better paying dues on KZbin with random concerts. Toby seems to open other aspects and bring her out of so many ballads. Needs to be danceable and repeatable grooves. That neosoul sound is good and Toby can write to that. Hopefully this is her Igor and both start getting her sound out there.
