European rugby is a gold mine. They are growing on their own. And the unions are doing the right thing by the sport. Developing their youngsters. Eventually they will have competitive senior teams against tier one teams. But give them more test matches against top 10 countries.

Congrats Germany, good game....good clean break by the German winger.

These teams need media exposure really badly. Portugal heve really come through lately, if these games where promoted properly then the game should snowball in these countries.

Like Major League Rugby in America, investors need to come together and turn Germany’s “Rugby Bundesliga” into a pro league. After that, German clubs can sign up Samoans who have part German ancestry (Schmidt, Schwalger, Wulf, Schuster). Also sign up many South Africans with German ancestry. The Pro Rugby Bundesliga can help the German national team improve and become competitive. All they need is rich investors.

They need too public and full stadiums, same for Belgium, Portugal, Spain ....

Chicken & Egg - investors will need a return on their investment - then they'll come. Growing player numbers & quality organically (but slowly) is the safer option - more competitive games against top tier teams 'B' sides will help imo.

Whats the point of that ? They need to develop rugby from the base, not buying in players of which one of their prehistoric grandfather may have lived in their country. And be a bit flexible. Lets say you are a small club but with a very good level 1st team. You have about 35 senior players. You could have 2 teams playing if they could play different time/day but if that not is possible you have the first team taking at least 20 players, leaving just 15 for the second team and that without injuries. 5 players injured and you only have 10 players left, son no game for them, but with the possibility of different game day at least the 1st team reserves can play with the second team .

As a samoan with german ancestors, I agree.

I've always known there's potential for rugby to grow further in mainland Europe, especially from the grassroots upwards. Well done Germany.

Good game. The scrumhalf for Belgium should have been given a red card. You cannot rake, very dangerous play.

That Belgian scrum half is lucky there is no TMO at these games. Looked like he raked the head of a defenseless player.

Do Poland have a shot at preventing their relegation? It will suck if Belgium goes down. 😢 They have great supporters, great spirit and Portugal needs revenge! 🇵🇹🇵🇹🐺

I'd love to see some players from these smaller countries get picked up by the top teams.

They're growing, and need support to grow, but there isn't one of these players who would make Irish, Scottish, Welsh, or English club level Divison 1 sides.

All that talk about the national colours is so funny when you look at the flags and the German Home jersey looks almost exactly like the Belgian one.

Oh mate, I know you mean well but with all due respect that is the most arrogant kiwi comment I’ve ever read. I hope you’re being a troll and not actually that naturally arrogant? You think these players, who are professionals or near that level and play internationally, don’t think to improve their game by watching all top leagues and top players? You don’t think they’re working with their coaches and clubs and national teams trying to be the best they can? Absolutely insulting comment and I hope I’m wasting my breath on a troll and not a genuine deluded kiwi fan 🤦♂️ and btw super rugby isn’t even a top top league 😂
@Analytical20003 ай бұрын
Nah mate, Super Rugby is dying. A victim of its own stupidity. Consistently changing the laws of the game. Making it difficult for the fan to follow a game, It resembles Rugby League more than Rugby Union. Better watching the URC, French Top 14, English Premiership Rugby, or European Rugby Champions Cup.
@championthewonderhorse97333 ай бұрын
@@jakeclough8090 Why do you assume the comment was directed at the players?!? Pretty clear to me it was directed generally at players of 2nd / 3rd tier players.
@jakeclough80903 ай бұрын
@@championthewonderhorse9733 nah it sounds directed at those players, and it’s still insulting either way. Any german or Belgian fans who care enough to watch these highlights will likely already watch top 14 or something
