Believe me, if all those endearing young charms didn't explode whilst playing this song, it would have been known for a beautiful piece of musical in its own right. I sought out this video to find a non-Looney Tunes version, to hear the song on its own. And I was not disappointed. Superb song, excellent performance.

A song well over 200 years old... such a lovely and singable melody. And the words so well expressing a powerful love. Not does it make one weep for these beautiful reasons, but I weep because society is such today that such a song does not resonate with us. It has no strong beat. It has no hyper-repetition. It has words that require thought. And we think we are evolving.

@@aaronroffman3987 true. That exploding piano gag is actually a recurring gag in many Warner Bros cartoons, as far back as World War II when Private Snafu did it. I think the Roadrunner also did it, as did Bugs Bunny with Yosemite Sam. Concerning the song without the exploding piano, it seems I remember seeing Alfalfa sing it in one of the Our Gang shorts.

I have played with the "KABOOM" joke in my video I admit... (I actually learned the tune way before I know about the joke, I am from HK so I somewhat have different experience). But the story of the tune is quite a touching one. Thomas Moore wrote the lyrics for his wife, when she got smallpox making her lose confidence, to assure he will love her forever. I just learn this story even later than the joke, but I long understood this is a sentimental classic. Here the performer captures the essence of this beautiful song! Well done
