@@leonidasse Because the men have the luxury of best of 5. Give the women 2 potential sets to refocus and there will be a lot more stability. Djokovic, Nadal and Federer could have lost a whole lot more had they only played best of 3 in (high pressure) slams.

@@user-yd4nk4lm6s There would be a lot more... death on court. Read about tennis history, women used to play the best of 3 sets for some time in the 90s and it was a disaster as far as the level/quality of game was concerned as they simply could not bear it physically.

@@leonidasse the real reason is scheduling. Most women especially today are very fit and have no problem with bo5 which they easily can fit in from the QFs onwards at least, they actually had bo5 in the wta tour finals for a while and women had no problem

Would’ve had a different matchup if games were rescheduled. Paula Badsoa was better than Vondrousova clearly but was forced to Retire because the heat not really sure where the logic was not delaying the games until night it spoiled the tournament.
