UPDATE: There is now a video of the Bell Rock Lighthouse entirely in 4K and with better music on my channel for those interested: • Bell Rock Lighthouse 4K
I have been fascinated with the Bell Rock Lighthouse for so long and finally decided to go see it in person and it did not disappoint - what an amazing feat of engineering it is and when you read the story behind the build, it is all the more impressive.
As you will see from the video, I was very excited - so much so that I say it over and over and over! It was a super experience and I am absolutely overjoyed at being able to visit this engineering wonder of the world!
There is also a lot of drone footage featured in this video as a treat for you guys!
The lighthouse is situated around 14 miles off the Angus coast and was constructed to such a high standard that it has not been replaced or adapted in 200 years. The challenges faced in the building of the lighthouse have led to it being described as one of the Seven Wonders of the Industrial World...

The constant switching between the lightouse view and seals is VERY annoying. 4:00 Thanks for posting though.

I was trying to make out the things swimming in the water, but after a few scene switches I had to pause the video. I found it somewhat frustrating. Otherwise a good video.

Thank you for taking the time to charter a boat and go film the Bell Rock Lighthouse, then share your footage for free. The internet seems to be full of ungrateful teeth sucking misery guts. For those ignorant of the fact, the music that can be posted on KZbin free viewer videos is VERY restricted. If you don't like the music, turn your volume down and put your favourite CD on.

I like how you made sure the subject of this video was filmed in the least detail and shown for the least amount of time. a long, drawn out shot of ascending away from rocks with water breaking over them is far more important than the actual lighthouse.

Thank you for appreciating what I was trying to do! I spent all of 4 minutes on editing this masterpiece but some you win, some you learn from... I did another version that perhaps may be even less suitable for your approval but if it helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inzOomZ6qb5giJo

That was a fascinating video, I love the shots that you took with the drone. It is truely amazing how the lighthouse was constructed on the Bell Rock. Thank you so much for sharing this. Best wishes Rowan.

The Bell Rock Lighthouse Robert Stevenson's Bell Rock Lighthouse was created off the east coast of Scotland between 1807 and 1811, when the world was very different from how it is today. Stevenson, the grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, had dreamed for years of making his mark on the world, by bringing light to the treacherous Scottish coast. He aimed to take on the most dangerous place of all, the Bell Rock, a large reef 11 miles out to sea, dangerously positioned in the approach to the Firth of Forth. ... the oldest offshore lighthouse still standing anywhere in the world. In 1799, over 70 ships went down in a violent storm that raged along the coast, yet still the authorities opposed his plan. How could anyone build a lighthouse 11 miles out to sea, on a rock that was submerged by up to 16 feet of water for most of the day? Battling against the odds, Stevenson did eventually build his lighthouse, and to this day it shines out across the North Sea, the oldest offshore lighthouse still standing anywhere in the world.

My thoughts go to those intrepid light keepers as far back as 1811. What a dark and lonely place to wrestle with your own fears. I might have relished the chance, I just as may have jumped too. Lighthouses are memories to me.

Thank you for trying but you have created one of the most annoying videos ever. I needed to see what you saw and you didn't achieve that. I am really happy for you (I really am) but the splendour of the trip was lost in the camera angles. Next time you go decide in advance what story you are trying to tell. However I say again I am really happy that you achieved a personal dream

Such lovely comments is what keeps me going and your comment and views are helping with my social media reach so thank you again. Most people do not leave comments when they love a video this much but you did and that makes you very special... There is another version if you do wish to watch that and also question your life choice at the same time, but however difficult your current situation is, I am sure it will be improved by watching yet another video of the Bell Rock: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inzOomZ6qb5giJo - thanks in advance for the continued engagement...
