Hermione was the more knowledgeable of the two, having a better understanding of magic overall (although Bellatrix had the better knowledge of dark arts), but Bellatrix was by far the duelist. She would make fairly short work of Hermione in a duel, and that's not a knock on Hermione, Bellatrix was just that good.

Taking the books and movies in consideration, Bellatrix Lestrange was indeed more powerful than Hermione Granger at the time of Battle of Hogwarts, as she was a) more experienced, b) fully fledged witch, c) has better control over her magic. Hermione at that stage was powerful for someone at her age level, however it is quite evident that she was not ready to fully take and defeat Bellatrix in a 1-on-1 duel, as she did not have the amount of expertise, experience and magical development that Bellatrix already had. Hermione however did have some advantages on her side. A) Bellatrix being imprisoned at Azkaban for nearly 15 years which bound to have affect on a wizards/witches magical core due to dementor's affect. B) Bellatrix's sanity - this in my opinion was a double edged sword. While Bellatrix was always a bit deranged to begin with, she end up being a total psycho after being released from Azkaban due to dementors. This led her to have sporadic bouts of anger fits which led her to either become too focused on her anger or become totally erratic and unpredictable. C) On the other hand Hermione always try to rely on logic and reasoning to be able to resolve issues and she also demonstrate that during battles throughout the narrative. As such if Bellatrix becomes too focused on her anger and become distracted by her emotions, Hermione may have a slight advantage of defeating Bellatrix, if she can hold on to her logic and able to counter all of Bellatrix's dark magic. D) Finally Hermione's Muggle background gave her an extra dimension in her thinking which Bellatrix didn't have, as Bellatrix believed Muggles to be beneath wizards and will never try to think "outside the box", specially if it does not have magical solution to a situation.

Henry Auxier actually Bellatrix fought Hermione, Luna and Ginny, Hermione being the best out of the three young witches, and yet Bella was not able to finish any of them off. She was working hard to keep them off. Bella was of course more powerful than Hermione but Hermione would put up a good fight nonetheless. It's made fairly clear that she would have killed Ginny and then been able to fairly easily dominate from there had Molly Weasly not intervened and broke out the incredibly OP wildcard that is "maternal love". Fighting more than 1 opponent successfully is actually extremely rare and requires exceptional talent. The only others shown to ever really be winning in 3 v 1 battles against anyone who isn't cannon fodder are the big 3 (Dumbledore, Voldemort and Grindelwald). Combine that with the fact that she once blocked and attack from Dumbledore that took down everyone else but her I would actually go as far as to say she's the #4 most powerful duelist in the main series after the big 3... though still with a large gap between them and her. I don't see Hermione lasting very long when it took Bellatrix less than a minute to defeat expert auror Kingsley Shacklebolt. Like you said though... This might be interesting if Hermione were 20 years older🙂

@@SkiddyGaming I agree about the fact that Bella was having the upper hand but she was fighting rather hard, which is understandable given it was 3 against 1. I do believe she would have managed to kill Hermione but not easily. I still think Hermione would have held her own for a while. Then again Shacklebolt was defeated in less than a minute but hey, in a magic fight that's quite a lot of time. The fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore lasted a few minutes in the film. It takes one second to finish someone off with an Avada Kedavra, so in less than a minute many spells can be performed. If Hermione lasted a minute against Bella, I would still consider it a success for Hermione. I agree about the fact that Bella is among the best fighters in the series, though it's kinda hard to say who's the best among Snape, Bella, Minerva, Moody and Flitwick… In the top Aurors/Death Eathers/Hogwarts Professors league there are many talented fighters…

I think it really depends on what age Hermione would be when duelling with Bellatrix. If she was somewhere between 25-35, I think she could've easily beaten Bellatrix in a duel. She came close to a perfect score in all of the areas you addressed as a teenager/young adult and I think they all would've gone increased greatly as she aged. I think that if Hermione and Bellatrix would have duelled while Hermione was older, Hermione would've beaten Bellatrix, maybe not with ease, but I don't think Bellatrix could have beaten her. Bellatrix would no longer have been taught by You-Know-Who (**wink**) and I think that in her loyalty to him, after his death she would've _completely_ lost it. However, if you are talking about teenage, about to graduate Hogwarts Hermione, then I definitely agree with this video. It took Hermione, Ginny _and_ Luna just to keep Bellatrix at a standstill, so I think that had Bellatrix and Hermione gone one-on-one, Bellatrix would undoubtedly have beaten her. There is no doubt that Bellatrix is the more experienced witch. She comes from a pure-blood family, who has always been fond of dark magic. She has always lived in the magical world, Hermione only for 7 years. As an 11-year-old, Snape dominated more curses than the 7th grader, Bellatrix will surely have mastered even more. Like all Deatheaters, she is ruthless and without any conscience. But she has also been trapped in Azkaban, so her abilities will also have her limitations. So we compare an 18 year old student and a 47 year old Death Eater. Hermione is an impressive witch for her age, but it would be strange if she had equaled Bellatrix at the time.

Harry Potter was about to jump into the fight with Hermione, Luna and Ginny to help them out until he was pushed aside by Molly, not knowing he was under the invisibility cloak. Then everyone stepped back. Harry wanted to jump into the fight to help Molly, but he was afraid he would hit her with a curse or spell. So he watched helplessly. Hermione was a powerful witch who was smart, but her fighting skills was no where near par with Bellatrix or Harry Potter's. I know Hermione was a popular character but people have to put aside their bias and analyze each character.

But if Bellatrix could've lived and been at her prime when Hermione reached her peak at her late 20, early thirties, and they had a contest when Hermione had the experience(I didn't know Hermione practiced the dark arts in secret), Hermione would've won because she would know light and dark magic.

the decision was kind of redundant by the first round. seeing that she dueled 3 exceptionally powerful witches at the same time, Hermione included pretty much seals the deal for her victory. more experienced wizards have higher levels of precision, they destryo precisely taht which they desire to destroy, not much else. spreading your magical power over such a large area, would make it easier for another wizards protective spells to nulyfy it. a highly focused spell, which concentrates a lot of magic into a small area is more likely to spear through an opponents defences, making it much more usefull in a duell. huge explosions are something wizards do only when they are desperate, like wormtail when he used one to fake his own death. 50 grains of black powder won't du much if you throw it at your opponent and then set it off. 50 grains of black powder will do a LOT if you stuff it in a pipe with a lead ball.

Lets not forget that, despite age gaps, Bellatrix duelled Ginny, Luna and Hermione all at once. Yes, Ginny and Luna are not that strong, but you can't underestimate the power of numbers. Despite that, Bellatrix was winning. She nearly killed GInny, and the fight would of been easier for her once it was a 2 on 1.

Hermione Granger should've won because she saved both Harry and Ron's life's multiple times, and she destroyed one of the horcruc's and she got a piece of Beletrix's hair so she could go into Green Got's as Beletrix with a poly juice potion! Hermione also got an almost PERFECT score on all of her O.W.L' s! She also survived when Beletrix was torturing her! And he was just judging Beletrix's fast way to learning in only the dark arts and dark curses, but Hermione learned a whole lot more than that! Hermione is smarter and understands the effects of any of the magical arts, while Bellatix is more skilled in duelling and is a wizarding war veteran, in the movie timeline, Hermione wouldnt win against Bellatrix, but give Hermione a few more years and she coudlve easily surpassed the magical abilities of any witch alive.

You need to mean them Potter! You need to really want to cause pain -- to enjoy it -- righteous anger won't hurt me for long -- I'll show you how it is done, shall I?" should note that a noise gate cuts out all frequencies under a certain amplitude meaning it will cut out the background noise without affecting your vocals (dont go over the top with the threshold or your recording will sound choppy)

I think most people think kill count and killing capacity = power. Sure Bellatrix killed a lot of wizards but Molly never did. Up until the Battle of Hogwarts, everyone thought Molly only had domestic level magic. And yet she single handedly killed the dark witch. Was Molly smarter? More skilled in duelling? More powerful? Maybe. Maybe not. But I believe it was because Molly had the DRIVE to kill which led her to defeat Bellatrix. She knew she HAD to win by whatever means necessary to keep her children alive. Morals be damned. I think age is also a factor with a wizard's power. Remember, Harry and co. we're easily captured by Death Eaters at the Hall of Prophesies and only the Order of the Phoenix was able to save them, all of whom were full grown wizards. Also, Hermione is kind and has never been seen dueling to kill. I believe if it were adult Hermione protecting Hugo or Rose, she can kill Bellatrix one on one. Great video by the way!

Please do a Bellatrix Vs Molly (this has been done before but there seems to be an overwhelming assumption that Bellatrix would normally wax the floor with Molly) - I have a belief that Molly's power is underestimated because most of the spells we read about/see on screen are domestic in nature, and people generally ignore these and are drawn to flash. But "Siriusly", how did she make her awesome clock and other tools she uses throughout the series that even impress Dumbledore? She was a valued member of both original & re-formed Orders of the Phoenix, likely not just because of her kindness. Her pure blood status & natural talent must have been high, too... and considering she is almost ALWAYS magically-multitasking (requiring great focus), I think there is an argument to be made that they would be fairly evenly matched in skill & knowledge, even if not in intent or flash.

Just to let you know, I gave this video a thumbs up because it was quite good. But whatever, here we go: Well, if you gave us a chance to explain ourselves: No one of us knew that you started this versus-series 9 months ago. And yeah, this idea is not very specific, so you might have come up with this idea on your own mind. It was just this timing. Dagi announced it a few weeks/months ago (keep in mind that we didn't knew that you've already started the series). Yep, you may not understand German, but you get the words "Harry Potter" and "versus", right? So, we didn't saw that you ever (or at least for months) made a versus-video and then, on the day when Dagi's video was released , you also uploaded a video of this series. We could hardly believe this was just a coincidence. But it was, how it seems. For another coincidence, the style of the thumbnail looked quite similar aswell (he's released them on twitter a few days ago.) And furthermore the next fight (what we all knew) is Bellatrix vs. Ron Weasley, so you both made Bellatrix fight to one of the three mains. In addition to this you both took the same picture of Bellatrix for the Thumbnail (today's thumbnail has been released aswell), even Dagi's Bellatrix is a close-up. All these points made us think that you saw the title of one of Dagi's versus-announcement-videos and thought something like 'Well, I guess I could make somthing like that aswell" [We were not quite sure whether or not there was a HP-versus-series before and in this case and if you saw it in the title of one of his video, it would have been his idea] But whatever, it was more about this timing then about the fact that you uploaded a versus-video aswell. Just bad look, for all of us. A sad coincidence. And well, I didn't say "Hey, you stole that from Dagi!" I just wrote (short form): "IF this was an idea of DagiLP, he might approve it if you asked him before making and uploading this video." I'm sorry for the ones who were kind of harsh because they were so sure you stole it. It was just this awkard situation. They've never written something like this if they weren't sure. And they were, because of all the points mentioned before and maybe some others. Oh, well, maybe another reason is that we had a connection between your two channels in mind because Dagi asked us to check out your channel. We may have assumed that you know this channel too. I agree with you but there's something that in my opinion needs to be pointed out- Hermione doesn't use the 3 unforgivable curses. On the other hand, Bellatrix has no morals and she uses every spell that she can think of. Hermione has less experience, smaller range of spells to use, however she performs really good when it comes to dueling and having to think of a way to save her friends immediately. Imagine if she actually used Avada Kedavra every time she or someone she cared about was in danger.

Hermione was capable to do extremely important spells and magic in Hogwarts, and outside too. She knew exactly what to do in every situation, and save lifes. Salvio Hexa, Protego, the Profeu spell for the Order of Phoenix, her handbag, Polissuco potion, the extremely powerful Obliviate in her parents and so many things that you can do with smart and experiencie, and not dueling.
