I noticed the same thing about the volume. My AER Go Pack (22L) can fit nearly as much as this Venture Pack. Also, I can't stand that the Bellroy doesn't stand up AT ALL. Even when leaning it against something (either front or back) it just slides away. The rear panel piece is quite long, which leads to the bottom not sitting flat. I like the bag, the material is great and it looks nice, but I can't get over the sitting flat problem as well as it fitting less than expected. I'm selling it.

The cons you described are basically filled with the ULA Dragonfly. Something to look into. They have a 30l that is actual 26l and the extra 4 come from the mesh pockets.

Great review! I actually just returned the Venture Ready Pack. I really like it a lot, but my biggest complaint was the organization. It really only has 2 pockets. I don't count the 3rd side pocket because that one is so narrow and hard to access. I wish it had one more front pocket to give extra organization for items you access more often. Otherwise, you're stuck having to use the main compartment.

Thanks! You probably wouldn't like hiking packs then as they often have even less organization options. I like using small pouches to organize stuff so that wasn't as much of an issue for me as the overall size. But yeah, an extra front pocket or expandable area would fix that.

I agree you CANNOT take this bag on a hike! You can travel with it and look professional even as you are carrying a pack. this is a very handsome bag-but not for snow, muds and rain.
