On Friday, Digital Extremes reviewed a proposal they put forward to Warframe's community about a paid option for new players to skip grind in order to access later narrative content without having to put in 1000 hours. That sucks, but it isn't game breaking. Assign correct jargon if you're going to use it. Game breaking is much more than "kept me from completing seasonal content _", or quests or etc. if you were still able to fire up and play the game but it was simply a seasonal content affected explain how that's game-breaking? In order of debugging priority yes game-breaking is high on the list but bastardizing the term and assigning it inappropriately doesn't help the industry. I'm not remotely defending Bungie here either. They've been shit for several years. I haven't touched destiny other than playing it for about 15 minutes 6 months ago and then realizing it was s*** and putting it back down, LOL. I say bastardizing tech jargon and and terms doesn't help the industry because all it does is continue to soread incorrect understanding of how development works and who is responsible for what. I assume you must be talking about a bug that at some point was officially listed as a "known issue or bug", otherwise how on earth is Bungie supposed to know whether it's your own hardware or a thousand other potential things causing the problem? That's why anecdotes serve to fo nothing but offer confirmation bias to ppl looking to doglike online. looks like that is working as intended for ya at least, reading the replies above, lol. Once the artist is done with it then its done and can be added into the game. An armor could be scanned into a game just as easily if it existed irl... but yet again none of its statistic properties would be included but there wouldnt be much to add anyway if you wanted since at the most they would have armor, endurance and weight. While a car in a racing game has more than double ingame mechanics you need to add and properly model to fit the car in question... its not a need for speed-game after all either, forza is atleast trying to make cars behave and feel the way they would irl so they absolutely have systems to calculate aerodynamics, collisions, damage model etc.

From what I have heard, this is actually based on the expected pre-order numbers, based on how "well" Lightfall did. Don't get me wrong. The eververse set used to be purchasable with silver (real money analog) or bright dust if you bought the parts on the weeks they were available. It was an incentive to play. So in their greed they removed that, and jacked the price of the seasonal eververse set and…shockingly have seen player counts and revenue drop. Imagine that.

You can buy an expansion for Destiny 2, and come back in a year's time and that expansion has now been deleted from the game and you can't ever go back to those areas. That is such absolute horseshit and that's just the tip of the iceberg on how greedy and anti-consumer Bungie & Destiny 2's microtransactions and monetization are ... Bungie also are the biggest hypocrits in the industry and that's why they are called the whores of the gaming industry because everytime they celebrate being "free", they very quickly sell themselves off to yet another publisher. I wonder how long the relationship with Sony will last this time and how long until Bungie celebrates the 4th time being free just to be quickly bought once again. And let's not forget to blame all the monetizations on the publisher even though you keep doing worse things even when you don't have a publisher anymore. If Bungie closed doors tomorrow, I wouldn't shed a single tear and I regret ever buying Destiny 2 when it was released.

I understood that it was just the season for layoffs and that it was inevitable that they would happen, but Bungie went about it with the most overt greed and maliciousness I have seen in recent history with them basically wanting to take the employee retention money Sony gave them and take the employee benefits by tactically choosing their timing to minimize what they owed. Even firing their composer? Hey wait a minute, they have done that before, and it was all so they could prevent him from selling his soundtrack as per their former agreement and so they could sell it themselves instead. It would have been nice to see Larian make that announcement after the scalpers bought up big, unfortunately it would be too late for some customers, but it would've been funny to see nonetheless.
@changer_of_ways_999 Жыл бұрын
Scalpers mean there's more money on the table that the developer is leaving on the table due to scarcity and FOMO marketing. More companies need to balance out that supply/demand better so that both the customers aren't screwed and the devs actually get more money than scalpers profiting off of a resale.

The developers baldurs gate 3 have to be pound for pound by new favorite studio Just based on the merit that they actually care about their people. And when I say their people I don't mean their own pocketbooks. They care about the gamers purchasing their games and that is why when it comes out to Xbox I'll be getting the largest addition that I can to support them. I haven't gotten anything above the base game for any game for nearly a decade. But with how they have been amazing towards their community and in general. Honestly, I had zero expectations outside of it being a Bethesda game with Starfield. I personally enjoy the game. I’m not really into space sims so I think that’s why I enjoy the more casual approach to it. It’s not as good as Skyrim but it’s still good and I’ve definitely got my moneys worth out of it.

I wish more people would take this attitude with the game. It's not THAT bad. Sure, there's some minor annoyances, but for the scale of what you're getting (an absoulute crap-ton of fun sidequests and faction quests) it's a pretty reasonable deal, IMHO of course.
@jonathankyle9008 Жыл бұрын
@@henram36 I agree. I understand that some people feel like they have wasted their money on it but a huge portion of people who are complaining about really minor things are the same ones who fell in with all the hype. I personally did not see any reason to think or believe that Bethesda would all of a sudden do a 180 and make a whole new type of rpg. I had a decent idea in terms of technical limitations regardless of an engine “upgrade”. But at the end of the day it’s just a video game made for our enjoyment.

At this point Candy Crush pretty much ruined most AAA multiplayer games. Once that mobile game made a fortune, gaming companies started adding Mobile game Monetization systems and Casino game Psychologies into their games. This has continued to the point that full price games have ftp Monetization systems from the get go. Even though you paid full price for the game. None of the developing teams are even the same people that made these popular titles popular in the first place. Its now Corporate Gaming. A Big publishing company buys a popular title and studios then strip them down and sell the popular name for max profit. At this point Games are now testing grounds for AI builders. Paying studios to test their AI systems. Games are Commercials now, not games.

As a Linux user I was at first fraustrated that it was impossible to play Destiny 2 and harder than necessary to play Diabolo 4 But as we've seen over the years, the games with the most stringent "anti-cheats" that block Linux tend to be games that actually have "anti-anti-grind" mechanics. When consumers hear "anti-cheat" they think "anti pvp cheater", but when companies hear "anti cheat" they hear "anti cheat us out of microtransaction profits". PVP cheating even helps games like this because whales will drop money to have better guns to overcome the cheaters. But systems that help players avoid monetisation, those always coincide with an anti-Linux stance. And that's helped me avoid hundreds of pounds of expenditure on games that are toxic by design against their intended audience.

Witcher armor isn't the worst microtransaction added with the new season. They added a starter pack providing 3 old exotic weapons, a ship, sparrow, and ghost shell combination. As well as a small handful of materials. Sounds all well and good, something that could be really beneficial for the new players it's targetting ...if it didn't cost $15 dollars! As if the barrier to entry for new players wasn't already laughably bad. It just comes across as the only response Bungie has to feedback at this point, is sticking their fingers in their ears and wishing the mean players yelling at them, to go away.

Their contract was up, so it’s hard to call that a mistake, unless you’re implying that signing the contract in the first place was the mistake, but then we probably wouldn’t have gotten several complete halo games from them at all. As an avid Destiny player since 2014, more and more of the game keeps getting locked behind paywalls. All of the cool shaders for Season of the Wish are locked behind a silver-only shader bundle. I bought the Ghost of Tsushima sets because they were really well done, but I'm not forking over money for The Witcher sales. I'm not pre-ordering TFS. Bungie will not be getting my money any more until I see reviews and impressions from people I trust. I'm over the BS and can't stand Bungie's monetization anymore. We have to speak with our wallets. Unfortunately, too many Bungie shills out there will lap it up.

I would love to get the collector's edition, but I want the PC version and... well... that one's not actually coming with physical media. Don't get me wrong, I get that Ultra Bluray drive adoption is even lower than standard Bluray drive adoption on PC. A big part of that is PC manufacturers no longer including such optical drives in modern preconstructed PCs, but still.. if I'm buying a physical edition, I kind of expect to get a disc, so even if a lot of people don't have those drives, including it still provides an OPTION, and since it'll come with a code anyway, it's not hurting anyone to have what's expected in the box. It'll fit (barely) on a four layer 4K bluray, so please, that's my hope Larian. It's what's keeping me from purchasing this edition, since as it stands right now it feels more like a Baldur's Gate themed loot crate than buying a copy of a game. I gotta say these collaborative crossovers have become SO common in recent years... I'm actually sick of it. That once in a few years moment of a little crossover reference has been replaced with these things that get full on advertising and a massive spotlight and... they just diminish both setting's identity by association. There was once a time where Fort's Night had it's own distinct look and feel and characters... and now it's just this weird playground where Superman shoots the Staypuft Marshmallow man or something absurd like that. I just kind of wish it would stop.

The situation with Destiny 2 is just shameful. It comes off to me as if Bungie is just trying to make players pay as much as possible before abandoning ship (either Bungie itself or some execs that will get the higher revenue analytics and then GTFO before the whole thing crashes and burns). It looks malicious and desperate. Back at its launch, I actually did not buy the game on grounds of not agreeing with the changes done to the color palettes (which were unlimited, unlock it and use it with no limits, to instead being consumables that needed yo be accumulated to put them on a whole set). I decided right then and there to not give the game a single dime. Tried it again on the free trial when the last good expansion (something about a witch) was out but by that time so much shit was paywalled, vaulted and so many MTXs were already in the game that I just uninstalled it and never looked back. At that time, players could at least say that what they paid was used to make interesting, high-quality content...now they can't say even that.

I'll say that anger for collaboration over an armor set we've gotten for 3 years in a row is kinda over the top. Ive never cared for the paid sets, so i wait for them to come out for bright dust. Anger over devs getting canned is valid, especially after revenue is "down" yet the top brass only lost out on bonuses, not raises. Anger over an armor set is a bit much.

Starfield's bugs may be "fewer" than previous titles, but in some ways it's worse. The entire NG+ loop of running through games and picking up powers is a minefield. Every time you talk to Vlad to find a new temple, there's a chance it's broken ... meaning you don't just lose out on that power, you lose out on every other subsequent power in that run (that you don't randomly find). I have a convoluted method of avoiding this bug, but it's so bad that despite being able to personally avoid it, I'm actively recommending other people not do any full powers NG+ runs.

Ppl need to get over the Bungie layoffs. Those layoffs are going to make the game a lot better, they let go of the staff that were becoming distractions in the work place who forgot what their main job was. Bungie is a bit responsible for allowing/encouraging this behaviour for the last few years but they have seen what happens and realized they needed to right the ship like most companies in America at the moment.

Also, the deluxe edition for BG3 only being 10 dollars more than the base game and isn't made as a limited edition deal feels like Larian rewarding their customers for the insane reception they got. I tried playing it on release day years ago, but after 30 minutes it felt like a massive corporate, for profit, rinse and repeat product without even trying to hide it. Destiny revenue being 50% lower than expected goes hand in hand with the fact that more than 50% of the player base just packed up and left due to their inability to actually develop a game. The franchise is 10 years old, and yet we still have the same mistakes and development issues that we had in D1. They learned nothing, threw away a good game and made something worse... Just to create a bigger revenue train. And failed.

making those assets, (the armour), is done in a specialized plug in developed years ago to streamline the process, with minor bespoke parts, the models would take ~ 4 days tops to make another 2 days to texture and thats it. Need proof of this plug in, thee are many behind the scene videos that show them working in the plugin, making cut and past reward armour for one of the dungeons and what looked like seasonal. People don't seem to realize how many in house plug in and basic assets bungie have at their disposal, there is very little that is new in each season. Neomuna has assets from the red war.

The KOTOR remake kerfuffle is a failure to communicate: the dev team at Aspyr _wanted_ to modernize KOTOR’s gameplay mechanics so it was on par with games like Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor, The Force Unleashed, and the Jedi Knight/Outcast/Academy games. The executives at Aspyr, at least the ones balancing the finances, wanted to do what Bluepoint Games did with Demon’s Souls; change absolutely nothing with the systems, just modernize the graphics. Read: the devs wanted to make a successor game like Resident Evil 2/4, the money men wanted to strip the old paint and apply a new coat. Eventually Embracer Group stepped in and handed the project to Saber Interactive, who are diligently at work shit polishing Space Marine 2 but otherwise don’t have anything in the pipe at the moment. It’s been mum since then while the directors are figuring out which way is up with this remake project, I imagine.
