You can't take your eyes of Portofino, the sea, the landscape and architecture merge into each other in an almost magical way. The hotel placed in the right spot. That is probably why it is so popular and a little overpriced also. But it doesn't matter. When you move around in the beautiful gardens and swim in the pool with the sea right beneath you, your daily concerns and sorrows suddenly become far less important. Nicely done! Thank you.

I have had the fortune to stay at this incredible hotel. The amount of Ferraris and other high end cars gobsmacked me. I dont think I have ever been to another hotel with that much money sitting on the driveway! The views are sensational. The service another level. That pool deck overlooking the bay with the super yachts etc ....just fabulous. I had a room like yours .... fantastic fabulous views. All you need with so much to see too. Stunning place to visit.

Passalacqua in Lake Como is a lil bit more stunning in my opinion, also Rome Cavalieri, Le Sirenuse in the Amalfi Coast, Four Seasons Firenze it's another world, Hotel Cipriani in Venice deserves a movie for himself, and a lot more, but the thing we can all agree at is that Italy is lovely, probably the most beautiful country on earth, you have it everything, Mediterranean Sea, the most beautiful Lakes, snowy alps, islands, beautiful and romantic language, fashion capital of the world, arguably the best gastronomy on earth, beautiful Fine Arts and museums, the best luxury cars, the amazing culture, passionate and welcoming people, beautiful ladies, history, etc etc.

I was very lucky to have stayed here about 27 years ago when I was in my early 20s travelling around Italy I decided to give myself a treat for one night however that was a long time ago and the prices were not nearly as high but it was exactly as beautiful as it is today an absolute breathtaking oasis and the management was incredibly gracious and kind Which made my experience unforgettable I still talk about it to my kids to this day all the time hoping I can go back one day to bring them there

I totally love the flowers and foliage all over the property... I like that it's close to the water-front..looks like it's nestled into a small area...i like the flooring in the signature restaurant. The bedroom itself seems a little neat in size but yet cosy..love the little terrace out there. Good Video

In my opinion the hotel is definitely enchanting in its public areas both interior and exterior, the view to die for, but the room too tiny and basic could not satisfy the needs of today luxury traveller. However your videos are everytime OUTSTANDING!!! Thanks so much for all your efforts! 👍🤗

Marvelous! I would have left my heart there. In the Summer of 2019, we stopped less than one hour in Portofino because we were in a rush. The little paradise is still on our list for a longer stay. Not in Belmond Hotel for sure (Tres cher!) but a visit and a lunch is a must after I have watched your video. Thanks!

I could never afford that hotel but I love learning about these iconic luxury hotels around the world, especially in Italy. I stayed at a moderately price hotel in Santa Margherita in 2010 and took the local bus over to Portofino for a daytrip. Just a lovely magical little place and at the end of the day took a boat back via Portovenere. Naturally, I enjoyed your video of Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lago Como. It's another beautiful area of which I've been, on a daytrip from Milan. Looking forward to next week's flight video. ✈

Liz Taylor, Richard Burton, Eddie Fisher, Rita Hayworth, Sofia Loren, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Ava Gardner, James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, Linda Christian, Ingrid Bergman, Brigitte Bardot, Greta Garbo, Vittorio Gassman, Marcello Mastroianni, Liza Minnelli, Alain Delon etc used to spend their holidays in Portofino back in the days, too. So, I'm pretty sure it's not only Harrison's merit why Portofino is so famous

To let you know how special they are to me, I recently enjoyed a reverie of strolling the remote garden terraces of the Villa Carlotta: Then I got terribly muddled in my head, because I've never been to Italy, and thought "I must have dreamt it." But It was your video of Grand Hotel (Tremezzo--I'm uncertain of the name) on Lake Como. You took all of us to the upper reaches of the hotel's garden, formerly one end of the Villa's grounds. I didn't actually stay at the hotel. Chef Christian Bodiguel, the chef of the Orient Express, was doing a special dinner there and called me in the US to come to Portofino to spend a day with him and his girlfriend, in May 1990. I booked a hotel in Portofino and then drove up to the hotel. Reception told me he was on the terrace. He was sitting with the manager of the hotel. The manager invited me to have dinner at the hotel that evening, but Christian was shaking his head "no" as he wanted to take advantage of my having a car and be able to drive to other places on the Riviera.The manager also invited me to stay at the hotel, but I told him I had already booked into a hotel (actually a pension) down in the village. Had I known I would have received this kind of invitation, I would gladly have accepted. It was Christian's wish to try local restaurants. Along with another chef, who I was told was the chef for Diana and Charles, we went to Christian's room where we had champagne. I had met Christian in Venice at the Chipriani Hotel just a few months before and a friendship developed.

Alright. Here goes another one. Normally I watch your videos 2 or 3 times before commenting. I need to enjoy it all. So, here goes: I had dream. A dream that one day I would see the bright light at the end of this pandemic tunnel. I would be transported to the village of Portofino on the Italian Riviera. I smell the beautiful flowers. I smell the sea of Ligurian, and the aroma of Italian cuisines. From there I check myself into the Belmond Hotel Spendido vowing to never check out. But, I was awoken from my dream by Mr Luxury Travel Expert himself, who said to me, "Don't give up. Someday you will be here in Portofino. However, you will have to checkout of the Belmond Hotel. Expensive? Of course. Exclusivity has its price and along that coast you will not find much below €500 at any time of year. We can all find standard hotels for $90. They have a place and you’re welcome to them but I’ve not found anything with this level of refinement or position in the US less than $1000.

The room runs about the same as the Four Seasons George V in Paris but is much smaller and, save for the terrace, much less desirable. But the hotel in toto is just remarkable in its understated ambience, much like the Cipriani in Venice is. (I was disappointed by Belmond’s Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, but that was 12 years ago.) overall, given the ambience and charm of Portofino, there is nowhere else to stay. Thank you for the wonderful review.

Been twice in Portofino, it is a cool place for sure, but places like Bellagio (at Lago di Como) and Sestri Levante are not worse. And you should stop in Santa Margherita on your way to Portofino, a magnificent place.

While the Four Seasons is our favorite hotel group, the Belmond is a very close second. We've enjoyed a number of stays at the Splendido and the El Encanto in Santa Barbara, California. The Splendido is superb and a step into another time and place.

I know my parents stayed at the Hotel de Paris in Montecarlo... and this video reminded me that they've mentioned this one (although I don't think stayed.. have to ask) but I was too young to understand what all the fuss was about back then..
