Beltaine is one of the best opening songs that an album could have, unveiling in essence what great songs are going to follow. Thank you so much Stephanie , Beltaine have a great sentimental value. Hey Stephanie, the idea of first NOT showing tabs is great. This way you can start playing by ear faster since there is no temptation to read the tabs before even listening and analyzing the melody. Also, thanks to you I've found a few songs that make me move and FEEL the melody - and Beltaine now is also in the list of these songs! Thanks for what you are doing!

I've been trying to learn to play this tune, because I'm very happy with my Lir Low D whistle and this tune plays well on it. I am certainly making progress, mostly reading it from my notebook while playing and getting it into muscle memory. By checking how you play it, I have an idea of how much more practice I need.

I'm so glad to hear that I am not the only one who has to practice in the car! In fact, I keep a whistle in the car with me at all times, and pull it out at traffic lights or when stuck traffic. Helps a lot with not getting impatient with traffic, and gives me extra play time. Traffic lights now get a rating: that's a two-song-light, or this one's a half-song-light... ;)

@@CutiepieTinWhistle So I must confess the reason for wanting to learn this song and reason I bought my tin flute is for nostalgia. Early One Morning was the opening theme of a children's TV show I grew up with in Canada called The Friendly Giant. In the clip the song starts around 40 seconds into the clip and is harp with tin flute? I've also posted another clip I just found of someone plying it on tin flute. My flute is a D so I'm hoping it is possible in that key? Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnPYd41jn912btU kzbin.info/www/bejne/fofdgGBnp6l-h5I

Love this song but very much a beginner and trying to learn a few things; watching the tabs and the placement of the fingers looks off in a few spots. I just don't see the left hand index finger coming off during higher D notes (maybe I just can't see it) and on certain E notes it's not documents but the right hand middle finger flutters as if it's multiple quick notes but only one tab.

hi stephanie, what a beautiful song this is, never heard it before but I instantly fell in love with it. i found a little mistake in your notation in the video. in the first line in your low d part, it says bag but it should be gab (that is what you play) it's the third time you play it.

Is your High D whistle one or 2 octaves above the Low D? Is there a middle D whistle? I'm currently a blues harp player but I'm interested in learning to play the whistle. On harmonica the standard register keys go from G3 to F#4 and anything above F#4 is called High Octave while anything below G3 is called Low Octave. Are whistle keys labeled similarly?
@CutiepieTinWhistle4 жыл бұрын
Low whistle is an octave lower than high whistle :)

The Low D is D above middle C. The High D (also called soprano, or tin whistle, or plain D) is one octave higher.
