They did a bunch of random studies and concluded that the type of person that would get a radar detector is one that drives safer than the average automobile operator. Speeding isn't as dangerous as a distracted driver. What is dangerous about speeding is that the magnitude of damage increases IF there was a collision involved. So what the speed limits really do is increases tickets if the speed limit is lowered. Increasing speed limits doesn't increase or decrease tickets nor does it make driving anymore hazardous.
