Back for another listen. This gem was written in 1948 by Sid Tepper and Roy Brodsky, and first recorded that year by John Laurenz, to scant success. During the 25 years that George Morgan was with Columbia records, he recorded lots of 45 rpm singles, but an astonishing low number of LP albums... THREE! What a hideous, unconscienable waste of talent.🥺😖😆. This song was a big hit for Vic Dana (Samuel Mendola, presently 78 years old) in 1965, peaking at #10 on the Billboard chart. (Best video is on the philsmusic1000 channel.) My favorite versions are by Al Martino and Vaughan Monroe's 1949 version, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard chart in 1949.
