Actually, I don't think that rule really applies anymore. It was sort of a cautionary tale after the TV show "Moonlighting", but that was 30 years ago, and TV (and the people watching it) are very different now. Plus, I think people today relate more to the quirks of being in a relationship with someone, as opposed to a "will they, won't they" type of thing.

Not to mention that at the dinner with Jane and the dude they have to get a deal with, he conclude an enormous deal very easily. And you see that it's not just luck, he have the situation perfectly under control. Even when Stanley shout at him, he have too play the boss and do it just well, he just don't like this at all.

Literally one of the greatest couples in all of television history. My god. They are so well written and so well acted. The way Leslie injects fun and passion into Ben, and Ben steadies and fortifies Leslie. I love them so much. They actually did the romance justice, and they didn't become stale after being a couple. In fact, their best moments are as a couple.

That happens a lot with characters. Jerry didn't become a sad loser until season 2. On "Big Bang Theory", the pilot made a joke about Sheldon (who was virtually non-sexual at that point) masturbating (it was a holdover from the original pilot, where he had a tryst with a nerdy female friend of theirs). Also in the original Star Trek pilot, Spock can be seen smiling or yelling at times.

Adding Ben Wyatt and Chris Traeger to "Parks and Rec" was, in my opinion, one of the best casting decisions ever made for a television series. It took "Parks and Rec" from being a cheap knockoff of "The Office" into one of the best TV shows ever made. I think the only casting decision that beats this is the decision to make Steve Urkel a recurring character on "Family Matters'"
