Harry & Jonny really showed such a lot of affection and flirtation that sparked off the screen so well, it almost seemed real. That said, Max & Tony are meant to be portraying a boring and beleaguered married couple pushing 30, rather than the infatuated student-age lads Harry & Jonny were, so I suppose that explains the difference.

What I liked so much about Paul the way Jonny played him is, that for all his casual bravado and preening and breeziness on the surface, underneath it was obvious that he actually was a vulnerable and self-sacrificing romantic with a trusting naive heart. Sad how destructively insecure Abi was, when really she's smart and sweet and nice-looking when she's calm and feels safe. She didn't have a reason to hate herself, until others like Babe started gaslighting her into twisted schemes. Abi's parents did a number on her psyche, making her feel second-best all the time so she felt like she had to manipulate people into caring about her.
