The only people that didn't try to take Alex down were literally Sean Strickland and Jamahal, and only because they didn't have enough time. Literally everyone else tried and actually did take him down (for a while, but didn't do much damage and most got tired). Not sure why people forget about it. Even Adesanya in the first fight did and actually won on it, two rounds for it, to be clear.

If you’re a champion in a division you have a duty to defend against the contenders otherwise all you’re doing is delegitimising the title and the rest of the division. It’s exactly doing shit like this that prevents other people becoming stars. Alex has beaten other champs and got this big because other champs agreed to fight him.. it’s not rocket science.
