I like the first time I hear a Ben Caplan song! This is deep, dark, empowering, and after I've heard it a few hundred times it might be just like every other pop song my brain waves process. That's when sharing a bit of Ben is amazing, watching the awe/shock/horror in my someone's face as you watch them watch and listen... and then excitement as you watch them play it to someone else first time :) Priceless. Thanks Ben! EDIT-erm, 7 months later it's not like any other song I've heard can someone like give this guy an award or something? You could write a whole film just on this song alone!

not sure the true meaning of these lyrics. To me it is a few things. Mainly the eternal battle of every man, integrity/civility vs the raw primal instinct. we do not derive from (to out knowledge) a civilized culture we came from the opposite. The weak died/dies the physical alphas and the wise lived. nothing has changed. we are all animals. this song depicts to me the internal demons as I call them crawling their way into our perfect lives and world.
