To get this really punchy kick and snare sound, you have to mix it so there’s as little bleed as possible. Of course, you also have to tune your drums in a specific way, but when you’re mixing, cut out a lot but not all of the bass and amp the treble and highs.

Thanks Micah! I sit relatively high and have my cymbals pretty low, so to avoid be hitting them wrong, I angle them away from me. Theres a bit of method to the madness :p
