Bought my CSR 260 from Callum in 2022. A former short life as a race car, it came with some hefty engine options as well as custom exhaust system and interior. Its racing battle scars are being ironed out now, so it will soon be even more perfect. The CSR 260 is the King of Caterhams.

Great to see some more quality content on the CSR, so little of it on YT. CSR is still Caterham’s forgotten masterpiece and still largely unappreciated such a shame the factory didn’t develop it, convinced it would be a better chassis for the supercharged Duratecs. Would have been too expensive I guess but remarkable that the S3 has outlived the CSR but I guess that’s what the S3 has always done, outlived the S4 by about 50 years!

Great video, I’ve been debating picking up the phone to you about one of your CSRs for a couple of weeks now 😂

A super well-presented video👌. Of course, the noise you refer to will be the Titan LSD. I have a 360R and my diff was noisier than the engine. An expensive upgrade to a SPC Tracsport diff has made all the difference and made the driving experience 1000% better. PS. With 260bhp, I'd want a 4-point harness.

Funnily enough, we have a film in the edit about noises… 😊

@@turn7caterhamExcellent. I await your video with interest. My de Dion axled 1997 super sprint (open diff) has a repertoire of different noises it can produce from behind the seat bulkhead depending on throttle opening!

Any solutions for the "bunny hopping" when try to stay at a constant speed in lower gears? I have a USA based CSR 260 LHD and driving in town is a challenge to keep it from surging. Really hard to drive slowly when needed. Normally I have to get on the throttle or try and get into third gear as quickly as possible.

@@turn7caterham All the videos you are posting are very helpful for us, who are building from scratch these style cars, because a lot of the car features we have no idea on how to make them. I'm not familiar with the standard Caterham rear suspension, but luckily I went with the independent rear suspension, actually multilink suspension from the MX5 MK3, using the whole rear end from that car with the LSD Diff, and of course the 2.5 Duratec and MX5 MK3 6 speed trans.

A brief but interesting comparison. I wonder if the CSR has refinement that isolates the driver from the purity of the de dion but some might say the same about the de dion compared to the live axle cars. Horse for courses, maybe? My budget will not allow me to know the answer to that conundrum.
@turn7caterham16 күн бұрын
You could look at it that way - there’s not a right/wrong. Although the CSR suspension is, technically, better it doesn’t mean the De Dion is bad. Many prefer it - even our video man says he prefers the feel of his De Dion R400 to a CSR! 😊

The CSRs do sound vastly different from the rest! Had a similar feeling in a 485 CSR.

"Half the price, they are not half the fun" Does this include the little 170? I would love you guys to review it, maybe comparing it vs a really old model, which is the claim of the car: back to basics (even in Caterham terms). There are many downgrades and I don't know if Suzuki parts are up to the standards: - Live rear axle - Gearbox - Engine

We’ve not had one in to test, sadly. All Caterhams are fun 🤩

What does CSR stand for? You can find different answers when asking different people 😅
@turn7caterham16 күн бұрын
Now that is a FANTASTIC question! Why? Because we have no idea what it stands for either 😂 Even Chris Rees' 'Caterham bible', "The Magnificent Seven", doesn't say what it stands for. A wee mystery, eh? If you manage to find out, please do come back here and let us all know! We'll do some more digging and see if we can find out too 🤞

@turn7caterham Stands for “Cosworth Seven Racing” I have a CSR 260 with an aeroscreen, a 3:92 diff and 6 speed box for the track in the U.S. - absolute hoot!

Begs the question; Caterham invested in developing independent rear suspension and in-board front suspension, so why don't they offer it in their current range of models.
