It's very comforting knowing so many other people feel the same way about Jeff as I do. He really was & continues to be one of a kind. Thanks for sharing this.

Strangely enough, I was at that very festival, 25 years ago. I remember Page/Plant's and Jeff's shows as if it were yesterday. I didn't notice Jeff's stunt though. I wish I had!

You know this story he tells about Buckley kinda puts his death in perspective. He was a bit of a risk taker. I wouldn't want to climb way up high on scaffolding. If you slipped and fell you might not die, but still.
@WildSkyMtn6 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment but I just wanted to say how right you are. I saw a picture somewhere of jeff standing on top of the speakers that day. It was a tiny platform and if he fell he would have died instantly no question. It was very high.

Nope. Sorry, it says nothing about his death. Going for a swim in a pretty calm river is hardly risking death, but it happened. He did not take crazy risks or have a death wish etc. What u might not know is Led Zepplin was one of Jeff's favourite bands-so this story is about him wanting to get as close to the essence, the spirit of LZ's music-he was not going to miss that for anything and that spot up on the speakers was perfect.

Why did you cut it off ?! I was enjoying that story !(also... I've been living in France for over 30 years now, I can assure you Rock & Folk is indeed a prominent magazine. It's like the NME in the UK or Rolling Stone magazine in the US)

Yes , but he is not covering a Jeff Buckley song, The song was written and first performed by Leonard Cohen, Jeff is one of the many who have covered this amazing song ,the most popular probably being Rufus Wainwrite who's version was used in a film.
@maggieorisit36848 жыл бұрын
+Eddie Black yes, but he's covering the Jeff's version, ya know.
@eddieblack45688 жыл бұрын
There is no version if Leonard had not written and recorded it first, other peoples versions depend more on their particular voices then any thing else, anyway to be honest I could care less all the versions sound pretty much the same to me..
@maggieorisit36848 жыл бұрын
yes, you're right, but maybe someone just made a mistake, dunno. and yes, unfortunately they are all the same, but in Jeff's cover i can see something more and that's why i love it so much. i could listen to it for hours but not some else's cover.
@padzzz93774 жыл бұрын
@@eddieblack4568 Well, Jeff said himself that he wasn't into Cohen that much, and the version of Hallelujah he covered was John Cale's version, which was the first version he ever heard. And yes, most artists are covering Jeff's version of the song, just like most artists, including Bob Dylan himself, are playing Hendrix' version of All Along The Watchtower.
