proper class... not many about today who can hold a candle to his musicianship and songwriting... unique LH guitar style which just makes a little magic, voice that is epic. This will sound just as strong in 20, 40 and 100 years time. Timeless.

My girlfriend of four years left me a few weeks ago. No reason other than she wanted to go to uni. She cut me off after 4 great years together and I don’t see the point in much anymore. It feels like I have to struggle to wake up in the mornings, and I get this pain in my gut when I see photos of her and me. I’m struggling to see the bright side of things right now, and I guess I’m feeling pretty alone.

Jacob symons Jacob, I just read your comment and had to write something. Maybe I’m opening old sores but let me tell you that the brazilian writer Fernando Sabino once said “everything is going to be fine in the end, and if it‘s not fine, it‘s not the end“. So stay busy, do what you love and you will eventually find the love of your life.

To me, this is old relationships. But the biggest most important thing it reminds me of is the bond of 18 years i had with my dog. She got me through pain, loss, and the death of my father she helped me find my heart again. She's been gone 3 years now. My heart is stone again

This song breaks my heart. Memories are great, but being reminded of what you lost, how you messed up, and ultimately, being reminded you're alone. Nothing is worse than having none to share your thoughts with. All I want, is someone to confide in. How pathetic.

There is something worse than having no one to share your thoughts with, and that's having the thoughts of others forced upon you, in whatever way. Being alone is absolutely fine, being left alone is essential to live any sort of pleasant life. One day perhaps all of us will just be left alone.

As someone who’s currently undergoing a breakup of a 7-year relationship, I can assure you that the second half of this song is EXACTLY what heartbreak feels like. I hope if you’re reading / listening, you never understand what it’s like.

I agree with your analysis on the comparability of the chaos and pain within the song and it being synonymous with heartbreak. However, this pain is inevitable when you fall in love, at least for the majority of people. Whether they break up or the other half dies, this pain is there. Without risking the pain you will never have experienced love, and to me that is worse than any heartbreak imaginable

Lyrics The end of the after The weight of a war The kindness, gone to bed The weight of your laughter Alive in the hall Did he hear, did he hear the fumbled words you said? Living without her Living at all, seems to slow me down Living forever Hell I don't know Do I care do I care? the thunders rumbled sound And now I watch her Running round in love again Now I talk about you When I'm with our mutual friends The end of the after The weight of a war The kindness gone to bed The treat of your laughter Alive after all Did he hear, did he hear the fumbled words you said Living without her Living at all, seems to slow me down Living forever Pale light on all Do I care, do I care The thunders rumbled sound Now I watch her running round in love again Now I talk about you when I'm with our mutual friends Could you be, could you be alone? My hatred, my hate will bring me closer So this is hell This is desert And what the hell? What the hell love What the hell So this is hell This is desert What the hell :(

You know when you grow up and hear certain artists or songs that were your childhood? Ben Howard will most likely be that for my kids. My three children were born into the world to Ben’s music. My oldest who just turned 4 has me play this song every night to him while he lays in bed. Makes me sing it and listen to it with our old CD player. He lays there listening so intently. I feel honored to witness such innocence and beauty that seems hard to find in this world. To me, it’s Ben’s greatest work and most powerful piece.

Thank your presence in my life, you were my best friend, my forever romance, my love. I see you everywhere, you are my everything. Life doesn't have the same meaning anymore, will never have. Why did they take you so early of this cruel world, this won't have the same grace like before. In your lovely forever memory. -F
