it's about a real story of a man who saw a suitcase floating down a river and for no particular reason wandered out to see what was inside of it and it was a dead body.

In terms of a deeper meaning I look at it like this. Have you ever chased something intensely because you were certain that is what you wanted and desired only to find out, when you actually reached the goal, to realize that it didnt turn out to be what had expected and actually end up being a bad experience because of the let down? Here in the song its about a man that chases a suitcase going down the river expecting something positive inside of it(describes it as a pearl). He struggles to get to it (water up to his knees) and thinks about if he is wasting his time(should he be spending time with family at a birthday instead?), but in the end gets to it. The content then turns out to be the worst imaginable.

This is as confusing as it is brilliant. I can see a guitar being played but I'm not sure I can hear one. If Ben is on a mission to be totally unique and impossible to replicate on guitar then he's getting closer to his goal.

I think it might be a Hologram Microcosm? Creates bizarre rhythms and melodies from limited input. Would be quite hard to even figure out what setting he has it on though.

I think we write instrumentation to work with our voice, both painting color on the lyrics. To me, that's much more interesting and satisfying than a singer belting out someone else's song and hitting as many octaves in a key for the sake of it. I so appreciate Ben's expression and ingenuity. This gent and what he creates shapes so many pictures and makes my heart and mind travel near and far. So gifted.

I’m a big fan and I needed to listen very carefully to this new album in order to share my humble opinion with all ben’s fans. I have followed Ben since 2012 and I felt with love with every kingdom and how dredging that album is, and the feeling that it transmits like the passion and freedom on old pine and keep your head up, deep meaning in black flies and gracious and too much more. Then I got obsessed with esmeralda and burgh island, until IFWWW came out and took me somewhere deep in my mind, the anger of small things, the hope of Conrad the resistance of IFFFW, the heartbreak of End of the affair, the strange mood of evergreen the pain of all is now harmed and time is dancing which just drives me crazy. Till them Ben made me want more from him and then Noonday Dream came out and I had to give it few weeks to understand what it represents, the lyrics are deeper, darker but the melodies are just perfect, what the moon does, someone in the doorway towing the line and A boat to an island on the wall are my top in this record but on January 2019 I watched Ben live in London and there I understood it... and fell completely in love with all the tracks. And suddenly I found Another Friday night and I loved it since I played it first time, the tune of the acoustic guitar is just stunning. Since then I haven’t heard new about Ben and on January this year, I saw his first post on IG announcing that there’s something new come up soon, I was stood and I had to sit while few drops of tears came out... this album, news from Ben is what I really needed after all the crazy year we’ve been living! Wow I can’t explain it... I just love this collection!! Folies fixtures is always in my mood, sage that she was burning, sorry kid, what a day unfeeling and all the other... I still can’t explain the feeling that I feel when I’m listing to each one of them, I just remember the first time I listen to the full album I literally cried,, lately I’m just singling alone “ my bracken hatchling “ I don’t find much meaning behind this masterpiece but I still enjoy it a loooot I wanna thank Ben for the art that he’s making everyday, because of him I believe that there’s hope in nowadays music. PS, you know it’s a good album when you can’t choose a favourite song, and you know it’s a great artist when you can’t choose a favourite song!
