I don't know why Ben Hur got such bad reviews. It was epic to the point of emotionally traumatizing. Admittedly, the last 20 minutes could have been better but as an overall film it was really impressive. As i scour interviews, i'm slowly learning that the cast are great too, Toby seems particularly funny and genuine. "Bench pressing french fries" hahahaha

I think once you get over the concept that every Ben Hur version must be lkike the 1959, it turns out to be quite a decent movie, despite a few blunders. It never set out to emulate the 1959 to begin with, I tghink if I see one aim, it was making the story a bit more modern and the characters more humanly accessible, and I think the 2016 version did achieve that.

How rude and untrue saying English food is disgusting! Home-made English food is delicious and the best internationally voted fine dining restaurant for 2 years running in 2021/2022 is in Cumbria England, who cook only English dishes sourcing local English ingredients. I've eaten there and it was perfection. We've also known about twice and triple fried chips for decades, it's not new.
