Had my 1st waveski back in 1988 when I was just 20 and surfed some big stuff around Europe. Now 50 this video makes me want to do it all over again. Nice to see a waveski video with good sized waves.

If you want to do it go for it. I did, I am 50 and after a 15 year break i have gone back to a waveski.

Awesome vid; did this for two years at Cronulla as an adjunct to training for canoe polo. Never got good and went back to longboarding. Amazing video - have looked into getting a new ski as a result of watching.

Hi Andrew, nice to know that there are other people enjoying the ocean in an original way! I come to Lennox (Pat Morton look out usually ) when around the Cape is flat...

Ripping so hard. You're very good, like our SKI guy Dr Steve, He surfs the biggest waves that come through Cronulla. I really liked watching this and to those guys who gave it the thumbs down, YOU are thumbs down. Ski's tricky to ride. So long as your riding waves and are happy - that's what it's all about - not fashion.

Great footage, I rode wave skis for years was in the DY wave ski club and Long reef club for a time. Surfed in contests with Christo and many other great riders of the time, Unfortunately back is shot now and only do body surfing .

I have to agree with Barton Lynch riding critical waves with the wave ski and the maneuvers you have to respect Ben

Great skill. My friend and l started doing 'waveski' in 1997 in the south of Spain. Nobody knew about it (not even us), there were no boards to buy (we began using a Prijon Twister). Fortunately, my friend is a sculptor, so he started to shape boards for us :-)

Respect man! Great video, great paddler. I have not surfed a waveski in a few years, and my Bullet got stolen not long back (who steels a waveski????) Been out these holidays surfing in a whitewater play boat and loving it,

Would really appreciate it, next year is new ski year, I have a 2.4m evolution which was shipped form AUS, its just so heavy (I guess its a strength weight compromise), it top turns smoothy and smacking it back at the lip is great. . Been playing around with all manner of centre skeg in different conditions. I started on a 8ft Island waveski almost 8 years ago but need a revolution for a move from the evolution. Sorga was sweet btw. Respect!!

I say the more radical the better! And the flicks are wickedly radical! Still love rail work though.

Great stuff Ben!! Definitely an inspiration for all us Goaters. You are riding Gee-Boards I believe? I'm Finding it hard to find any info on the boards are you able to supply details? Be nice to know what dimensions your riding as well for all us wanna be's :) D-Waters, I'm based in Northern rivers myself and also riding a 2.4 evolution. I usually surf Lennox beach breaks, I know of one other Goater who surfs there regularly. I usually hit Byron when the beachies get maxed out.cu on the water

Paddle Ski (or wave ski)... this is a paddle/wave ski. Surf Skis are a different thing - it's a misnomer, yes, but they're the long thin fast "kyaks". The guy is good. Back in the 80's we used to be approximately as good though we didn't do air back then - we were into getting barrelled and riding as big as we could find.

Still watching this for more tips bro. Riding a 2.4M (26"wide) Wavemaster in Barbados. Same here, whats that.. 2 years of hard charging and they are accepting me. Good on a line but hard to get airborne, cuts and carves big faces great, takes a beating. Should I go for the KS next?

Man...there are not many people in Australia that can go out at Snapper in a day like that ... on a waveski...if you do not get pummeled in the waves, you could very well be once you are in the car park...the balls on this guy...

Thanks Ben! I'm surfing hard to destroy current ski. Then I can present business model to wife for custom.

I still say that stupid flick move is not surfing, and it makes you lose your speed, and the wave. Maybe it it more suited to kayaking which goes for this type of 360 spins. Surfing is about rails.

I bought my first wave ski back in 1974-used to live above the beach at Hayle in Cornwall-It was a P&H ski, basically a surf shoe which had a sealed top deck to sit on rather than sit in so it was hollow. The volume was wrong as it had a high volume nose and very low volume tail-was a bugger to punch out through the break but was ok once you got on a wave-I gave it away in the late 1990’s as I was living a long way from the beach by then.
