@@IronGolem2009 I'm almost 100 percent sure that Judge's average WAR is higher than Trout. If WAR means wins above replacement, the Yankees literally count on Judge for wins. Without him, they're screwed. With Soto it's a little bit different, but before this year, the Yankees weren't winning without Judge. There is no way in hell Trout accounts for more wins than Judge does. HIs teams never make the playoffs, and there is an argument to be made that he played on the overall better team, especially with Ohtani.

Imagine if Ken Griffey Jr. was juicing during his career, obviously he wasn’t, but if he did then he likely would have hit 80+ HRs in a single season. He was the best HR hitter before a bunch of the players started juicing, with his best HR season being 56, which is 10 more than Bonds best of 46 before steroids. Given those numbers, it’s possible Junior would have hit upwards of 85 HRs in one season. All that being said, I’m happy that he didn’t ever use steroids.

Eh.. Griffey also played in the kingdome most of his career, one of the most hitter friendly parks in history. Bonds played the biggest chunk of his career in Candlestick one of the worst hitter friendly parks and still put up better better numbers in the late 80s late 90s when they were contemporaries as stars and were not on roids.
@mbh95662 жыл бұрын
@@barnuner In the late 80s Junior was 19-20 years old and Bonds was in his mid-twenties, so not really an apt comparison given that Bonds was nearing his prime and Junior was just a kid. In fact, that was his nickname during his first few years, “The Kid”, because he made it to the majors at such a young age. And in the late 90s Bonds starting juicing, so that’s a terrible comparison too. Don’t get me wrong, I actually would say that pre-juicing Bonds was a better overall player than Junior, but just slightly. And in the end he destroyed his legacy by cheating, and that’s how he’ll be remembered by a large portion of baseball fans. - The principled and sensible fans that care about cheating the sport. Lastly, for comparison Junior retired as one of the most beloved players in league history, and was subsequently voted in the Hall of Fame nearly unanimously(99.3%), whilst Bonds can’t even get 70%. - Because he’s a cheater!

Ben the Judge vs Trout WAR comment is the stupidest baseball comment I’ve heard in a long time. WAR is an accrual stat. It builds over time. Trout broke into the league in 2011-2012 and Judge didn’t enter the league until 2017. Pretty sure their WAR since 2017 is comparable and Judge may actually be a little higher depending on which WAR metric you use.

Increased bat speed would produce greater travel distance. That being said, increased pitching speed is going to have very little effect on travel distance, if any. I'm no physicist but I'd be fascinated to know exactly how much farther the ball travels when a fast ball is hit versus when a ball on a tee is hit with the exact same force. Reminds me of the mythbusters episode when they had to debunk themselves, because they erroneously assumed that two trucks colliding at 50mph would have the same destructive force of a single truck moving at 100mph. Feel free to point me in the direction of some counter data if anyone knows of any.
@destinlacquement70562 жыл бұрын
Throw a ball at a wall the hardest you can throw. Then underhand a ball at a wall. Which ball travels further backwards after hitting the wall? If you want a more conclusive test, use a stress ball and a moving vehicle with a big flat surface added to remove any variables.

@@treeckoniusconstantinus I don't like to get into racial issues. Anyone with a pitching talent, despite race, can be an Ace: Koufax, Ryan, Gibson, Pedro, Marischal, Tiant. It was tougher for Babe Ruth because of the dead ball era. Babe Ruth became HR king when nobody was hitting 20 HR in a season. He was the first to hit so many HR per season. He had the odds against him as pitching goes: almost all pitchers cheated using various methods including putting glue on the ball. At that time pitchers were allowed to use the same ball until it was lost in the stands; they were pitching with scratched balls by too much use or they were scratching the balls in their possession for better grip and more friction. It is called the dead ball era for a reason. Babe Ruth became the king of HR despite the odds, despite being fat. He wasn't even trying and yet he is the King of HR. idk about "debunks". I'm going to need to see these "studies" everyone keeps talking about. The argument shapiro makes that the records you remember are the ones that count is pretty silly. I'll make a silly one of my own. There are more non baseball fans who know Berry Bonds hit the most home runs in a single season than who know who Aaron judge is. Thus, Berry Bond's record is the one that counts as it had a bigger impact not only in the the world of baseball, but also outside of it. Put the asterisk by Bonds for steroids if you like, but also put one by Judge's for living in the stat cast era, for having better training technology, diets, lighter shoes, better bats and stickier gloves. And lets not forget the home run friendly park. As a side note, why do we always assume that players today are not on steroids? Just this past post season alone the MLB lockout also meant there was no drug testing going on. It's not a clean sport and we accept it. Just like you can take away Lance Armstong's trophies and have no one else to give them to, you can try and take the record from Bond and give it to someone else who could be just as dirty. However, the result is still the same. We know who won 7 tour de France and we know who hit 73 home runs in a single season.

No, not necessarily. And in “yes” cases, the effect isn’t nearly as big as what some think. My point above is there’s too many myths about juice. They are also incorrect in writing off the cheating by pitchers. Pitching isn’t just velocity. Otherwise Chapman would be the end all. Doping the ball makes a huge difference. steroids can help hit the ball farther, but if you juice up a random athlete, they still need the incredible ability to hit the ball. The ball could also be a fastball, curveball, slider, and so on. dusty baker said it still takes someone with elite batting ability to get achieve the hits, even with being juiced up. Steroids will give you the distance, but elite batting is needed to achieve the hits in the first place. And bonds has another chance to get in hof with the veteran's committee. whether or not he gets in, his records still stand.
